My new m11x R2 (i7 processor) just arrived today! I've never really done overclocking / benchmarking before, and I'd like some help with some of the basics.

First, I've already disabled turbo in bios, and enabled overclocking with my clock set to 164. It *seems* stable right now (the fan goes on a bit more and the computer is a bit noticeably hotter, but nothing else is different).

From here I need some help though.

    1) What program do people use to overclock the GPU? I have some info on what to overclock it to, I just don't know what program to use.

    2) What program do people use to get those nifty screenshots with all the processor + clock info on them + to monitor temperatures? I'd like to know what my temperatures are.

    3) What benchmarking programs are good to use (that are free)?

Thanks in advance! I'm really excited about this, and to do some benchmarking for people. :)

FYI, right now I have the samsung ssd drive that dell sells, and will be buying 8gb of RAM off of newegg, so its basically a maxed out system.

Restart the computer and press "F2" as it is booting up to enter the BIOS.

    Go to the advanced menu.

Go down to "CPU Turbo Mode". Disable that (select it by pushing 'enter').

Then go down to "CPU Over-Clocking". Select it (by pushing 'enter') and then select the clock modifier you want. Most i7 chips seem to be stable at 164, but if that causes you to get a blue screen or fail to enter windows try a lower value.

    I hope that helps! :)

I don't believe that matters, but you might want to try it on battery.

Remember that not all processors are created equal, and yours may only be stable up to 158.

So I downloaded and ran the installer program for the new dell driver ... but it doesn't seem to do anything (the driver # in the device manager is the same). Anyone know what I did wrong? I just downloaded the file and ran the installer, per the instructions on the dell site.

Also, how do I know if the PhysX driver installed properly?

Why do you need to disable CPU Turbo Mode when overclocking?

Going by what others have said, it reduces your CPU + GPU temperatures by 10 C. This allows you to overclock the GPU to a higher degree, which gives you stronger performance than keeping Turbo Mode on.

I haven't tested it all myself yet though.

I think someone said it made Crysis: Warhead smoother, though.

I know its GPU bound, but I heard that the turbo mode keeps the FPS smoother.

Shame :(, people that can oc at 164 in my opinion are very lucky. Mine only stable at 140! Though, im not too bothered as i tend to find turboboost with no oc'in works better for me doing day to day activities (DW, PH etc. No time for gaming anymore :().

f12 when the computer first starts, press it before it loads windows and it should bring you to a boot up screen, just go over a few tabs and down to those functions, and disable/enable them. Easy as pie.
