I just purchased my Alienware M11X and it will arrive next week! I have been building a list of crazy mods to do to this laptop and most people I tell don't believe its possible to do to any computer, but I'm pretty sure it is and I will do it anyways! I am wanting to know what everyone would do as far as mods? I am open to any suggestions!

My first mod is going to be: download Nintendo Wii Emulator and Play Wii games in HD(which Wii can't do), then buy a USB Wii sensor receiver to plug up to the laptop and play any game with the Wii controllers! Most people said its not possible, but I've already done it kinda... by wii hacks and bluetooth to make the computer read the controllers, but it wasn't stable and was in beta testing.

Another mod I have listed is to download DeskSpace for the 3D cube effect in windows along with the Aero Theme!

Steering Wheel would be awesome connected to a flatscreen via HDMI, Logitech G27 has the clutch pedal and shifter too!

External Hard Drive: 1 TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive

Here is a crazy mod I wanna do: Mod GTA 4 and use the Wii controllers with it, that would be so awesome cuz they don't make Grand Theft Auto for the Wii, just imagine gettin into a car and puttin the Wii controller into a steering wheel then jumpin out of the car and puttin the controller into a gun! I am looking for someone to Design my 2001 Ford Mustang GT Bullitt to put into the game as well, I made a website just for my car 2001 Ford Mustang GT Bullitt and if anyone can help that would be awesome!

Wireless Mouse Mod: The mouse looks like a little mustang and the headlights light up when you press the buttons!

How about internal mod, upgrade your wifi card to intel N6300 card now that would help internet speed.
    Nice build by the way.

GTA4 doesn't run so great. And isn't suing a Wii emulator illegal? Does Nintendo allow it? Sorry if I'm acting like a angry pants person but just giving a heads up :) I'm interested seeing how your mods go.

I have been looking into this as well.

I use Wii Dolphin emulator Dolphin - Gamecube and Wii Emulator. Works really good. Haven't tried the Wii controller yet. This emulator does have those options.

Not sure what your using but this might help you.

You need to buy a ssd so that when you boot up your computer it will be faster and it will be like 20 to 25 seconds... :D

You really are going far and beyond with this little guy. Don't expect your crazy mods to just happen overnight as they seem difficult to manage and fix. Try going for an SSD which is the best upgrade you can make in a laptop.

I remember this guy. His last thread almost exactly like this a couple of months ago got deleted. I remember him because of his Bullitt. (I'm a Mustang fan, and Bullitts are special editions. Had one myself several years ago)

I went through and made an elaborate thought-out response to stuff almost exactly like this only to have a moderator delete the entire thread. I wont be doing that again, and wasting my time like before.

    Good luck to you OP.

I see that you expect to connect a Wii Remote over Bluetooth but I don't see Bluetooth in your list of specs. If you need an adapter, see my sig. :)

Anyway, accessorizing isn't often called "modding" and anything you do in software is typicall called a "tweak." Heck, "soft-mods" for other devices are only called that because the platforms attempt to stop unauthorized tweaks and need to be "modded" to allow it.

Building the Wii sensor bar LEDs into the bezel would be a "mod" but it makes more sense to stick them on externally and non-destructively, especially when they are just passive IR LED lights. It would preserve your waranty and be transferable to another notebook if you just made a mount that attaches externally, which may be considered a sensor bar mod but it would not be a notebook mod.

That said, I have a the first vid on YouTube of a Wii Remote with Les Paul guitar controller connected to a PC:
‪Guitar Hero III on PC w/ Wii Les Paul controller + GlovePIE‬‏ - YouTube

As for M11x "mods," I did "mod" the Green Onion Supply AG2 Anti-Glare screen protector/filter (RT-SPM11X02) to acommodate the M11x r3's dual microphones (dotted the mic locations with Sharpie marker and used a hole-puncher):
    ‪Dell Alienware M11x r3 AG2 screen filter comparison‬‏ - YouTube

I've also "modded" my M11x r1 with an internal DW365 BT adapter and "modded" my M11x r3 with an internal DW375 BT adapter (see link in sig). I'd usually call that an "upgrade" or "expansion" but it does fit the definition better than much of what you discuss. :)
