I had a in-home technician repair my notebook (R2). The phone associate that assisted me assured me that replacing the entire LCD screen "to be safe" was the best idea as well as replacing the plastic around the keyboard (which I had no problem with since it now looks brand new). After the in-home technician finished I noticed right off the bat that the touchpad was not as responsive as my previous one and after I started it up my Synaptics virtual scroll no longer works.
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Just a thought, could you try re-installing the Synaptics driver and see if that corrects the problem?
-
already tried that.
just talked to dell support and this is a known issue with LCD replacements on the R2
they told me to wait until I get a call or they email me the new driver -
o.0... I'm using scroll with my just replaced (less than an hour ago) R2 screen....

Wonderful... Mine's scheduled to be replaced Wednesday. So far the 3 times I've had to contact Dell support for next business day service has been a beating. Their South American support teams sucks. Hope I don't have to call them again after the LCD assembly is replaced.

Can you provide your driver version? The support respondent informed me that this is a common issue and that the download link is currently down on the support page (at least for my service tag) but we also tried under M11xR2 support page and it was the same one. A02 is the correct one. -
If by Virtual Scrolling you mean the One-Finger Scrolling option on the side of the touch pad then mine works on the R1 that I had replaced and the R2. Don't know if this helps but what I'd do is reinstall the driver and make sure the option in the driver control panel is enabled under Device Settings > Settings > Scrolling.
If I am off base on the subject then I wish you the best of luck getting it resolved. -
I am a little upset at this moment as I feel as the technician told me a fable.
I will be calling again tomorrow. All I know is that it worked fine before the LCD replacement... and yes I have re-installed both the factory and newest drivers available and both do not work (for me). -
oh, I'm using the official synaptics drivers from synaptics with two finger scrolling enabled via the drivers. I disabled the circular scrolling and the "side area" scrolling, since I don't like either.
Hinge Replaced now Scroll doesn't work?
