I enjoyed the game - but it is short, 4 - 5 hour campaign overall. I'll get into some multiplayer action later - but I tend to hate FPS MP action.

I did all the config tweaks from the first post and lowered all the graphics to very-low and putting the detail down.
The Multiplayer is playable, not completely smooth, and Singleplayer is fine.
As long as I can play Multiplayer i'm happy.
Edit: M11x R1, don't know firmware version though -
i noticed that some of the background npcs start to have pixel-sized holes starting to appear in them at a certain distance. it doesn't happen for the mission critical characters just the background NPCs.

lol ok something has got to be wrong with my rig, cuz I can barely run this game. I mean, full resolution and very low specs give me 10-30 FPS.
-
-
here's the glitch i am talking about:
is anyone seeing this in their game?
this only happens on NPCs, it does not happen to the main characters. -
ok, I am annoyed and patience is wearing thin. I have the same rig exact rig as spacehamster but can not get this game running anywhere close to playable. I have done the config files, I have whitelisted it(atleast i think i have) and I have switched the render to 0. It is still not playable at all. I do not understand why is game is being such a pain. Spacehamster can you give me exact details on how you got this game to run prefectly on your system. There has got to be something I am doing wrong, I do not want to lose out on 50 bucks. thanks!

ok, is it just me or does this game need a lot of optimization?

It needs some optimization. This is another game where the graphics do not justify the utilization. Black ops is another. To give you an idea on my m15x I7-720qm I only run this game on HIGH settings with AA, AF, DOF, and Ambient Occlusion Turned off. I stay most of the time in the 50s and 60s but I definitely drop to around 30, especially after getting killed and start back on a map. I am at work so I may tinker some more later when I get home to see if I can figure out what else is eating up FPS.
Good luck, StevenX
ps.. Watch out for the campers on the flanks in Ground Control. Literally I see people with 24/1 KD because all they do is camp the flanks of the Objectives. They hide on signs, water towers, hills, whatever. I have sent my email to the devs on the homefront forum that if they check the leaderboards, they are all snipers and it's time to nerf that a bit as it's way outta hand. -
why is it that I can play crysis 2 flawlessly on my m11xR2 but can not run homefront in a way that it is playable, makes no freaking sense. Is it that homefront is prejudice to m11x?

Add this switch to your start-up properties in STEAM to see if this helps. "-compatscale=4" ( do not include quotes)
-
-
where exactly are is the start-up properties?
-
running flawlessly on my r1 (full res, med settings)...my cpu and gpu are overclocked btw
-
Ran pretty well before on all high settings on my i7 r2. With the config file modification it now runs GREAT on high settings.
-
I dont get it why are some people getting this game to run perfectly and then some like me cant... something I must not be doing
-
don't forget that some people's definition of "ran pretty well" will differ.
-
O also make sure you disable resource hog background programs (alien respawn, see if you can put you're AV on gamer mode) -
Im pissed
After doing all of stevens optimizations, as well as a few others i heard on the steam forums, i still cant manage to get over 28 FPS on EVERYTHING AT VERY LOW
I have an R1, OC'ed GPU and CPU. If anyone that has an R1 knows any other optimizations, that would be great
thanks... -
somethings definatly up with your system...im getting higher fps than you on high...like i said before my system runs strictly on dedicated discreet card (335m) with the latest beta drivers from nvidia. You can open your bios, set it to run only on the gtx 335m, uninstall your current drivers (use driver sweeper), download latest nvidia beta drivers from here: NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
reboot and test.
I know its a hassle to do all this but you might as well see if it helps...if not you can just do the same steps above only re-enable graphic switching download dells driver ect.
GOOD LUCK~! -

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
it isnt 100% necessary to use driver sweeper you could just uninstall the driver using the control panel...
most people recommend it though to make sure no compatibility errors occur. if you dont consider yourself very savy with this kind of stuff i would say just go the old add/remove program uninstall driver route as removing the wrong drivers could cause problems...im not sure you may not have to uninstall anything now that I think about it...
maybe just try to switch to discreet graphics only in the bios and then download and install the nvidia driver i provided you with the link to...may be that simple. ill be happy to advise if you need any more help! -
UPDATE: just switched main settings to high quality and im running EXTRA smoothe..........
God created a weird but lovable world.... -
I then created a shortcut on the desktop and added the -d3d9 to the target line. (right click and select properties) the shortcut should be like this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\homefront\Binaries\HOMEFRONT.exe" -d3d9 -
see, why is DX10 on by default anyways?
-
Well, I played it flawlessly with all high but it is TOO short.
Why can't these FPS games be longer and more satisfying in length as Call of Duty series?
I am getting tired of these short FPS games which I've waited for months and even a year. -

You guys dropping this for Crysis 2? The MP Demo was not good in my opinion. The graphics were good and performance but the gamplay and maps were boring.
What are your thoughts? -

I might wait until the prices of Homefront and Crysis 2 go down. Or I might skip them entirely because they scream "XBOX PORT" to me. I don't want to buy ported games because doing so causes depression. It's scientifically proven.
Then again, most games nowadays are ports, so I'd end up with no new games by the end of this year if I adhered to that policy.
