I presume it is because the Integrated chip is being used. How do I turn on the Nvidia chip for the Performance test??
I tried going to the NVidia Control Panel and changing the Global setting but it doesn't "stick"....as soon as I close out it reverts back.
(Okay, I'm a newbie at this.)
Also, even though I overclocked, the processor performance rating did not change - is that normal?
-
I'd be happy with 3.4, my R2 only gives me 3.2! LOL
It's been posted a lot on the forums, but no real sure fix for it yet as far as I know.
And yes, even with your CPU overclocked, you won't notice a huge impact. -
Many topics have been covered here before, so searching before making a thread is generally recommended
Since it's better to teach a man to fish over giving him fish...
Here is a sample search that produces answers to the main topic site:forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/ wei - Google Search
and here is one that answers your last question (e.g., 4th one down) site:forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/ wei - Google Search -
Mine's a 2.8 and I absolutely could not care any less. The IGP handles high bitrate HD video with ease and that's the most taxing thing I ask of it.
-
Thanks, everybody...I get easily excited.
@corwinicre
Yeah, I did a search before I posted but got no hits on "performance" or "performance information". Did not know the acronym "WEI" was the term to search for....real dummy here, sorry. -

I made a post about this a while ago

Windows experience calculates a different score across 5 categories. They are:
- Processor speed
- Memory (RAM) speed
- Graphics (2D)
- Gaming Graphics (3D)
- Primary Hard Disk speed
Your "Base Score" is determined by the lowest score in those 5 categories. However, the Base Score is a little tougher to calculate on an Alienware M11x, because of the switchable graphics.
Your "low" base score of 3.2 is because your score is based off of your Graphics (2D). If you have an Alienware M11x R1, and run the Windows Experience using the Intel GMA integrated GPU on your computer, then your Graphics 2D/3D scores will be low, and somewhere around 3.0. If you have an R1, then turn on the nVidia 335M GPU prior to running the benchmark, and your scores would be much higher.
If you have an R2 system, then Optimus would automatically switch between the Intel GPU and the nVidia 335M GPU during the appropriate 2D / 3D tests. Your overall Base Score will still be low on R2's, because your Graphics 2D score will be low (since it is running off of the Intel GMA GPU). But that's ok. For gaming purposes, the two scores that are most important (in order) are Gaming Graphics (3D), and then Processor score.
BTW, here is my Windows Experience score. Note that my overall Base Score is very low (3.1) because of the Graphics 2D score. But my machine will still game like a beast, because of the high Gaming Graphics 3D score and the Processor score. Those two scores are really the only ones that matter for gaming.
-
mine 3.3 >.< even set the graphic card to 335M also same result, lol...
-
3.5 here. I hope they come out with an updated index someday
-
3.6 here, i5, 4gbRAM, 320gbHDD
Not sure why mine would be higher. I just got this yesterday, maybe it just hasn't aged enough, haha. -
3.6 here. the 335m works for games so it's not a big deal for me. now my new ssd giving me a 7.3 is something to brag about!
-
I have a r-2 with a i-5 peocessor my 3-d graphics score is 3.6 is there something wrong with my system
-
Reran it now I got 4.7
-
2.9 here LOL
5.2
5.3
2.9
6.5
5.9
3D is the highest....Aero the lowest.... -
Aero.......2.9 ughhh!!
No matter how many times i run the test it just stays at 2.9 x.x
CPU OC'ed to 156
CPU Performance 5.8
Memory 5.8
Desktop Performance 2.9
3D Gaming GFX 6.5
Disk Performance 5.9 -
It's absolutely nothing to worry about. Really!
-
yea but from 3.5 dropped to 2.9 is kinda...... jaw-dropping LOL!!!
-
Sometimes people get to hung up in Benchmarks to enjoy thier wares.
In the AVS Forums the spec envy is ridiculous. I don't think people listen to their music or watch movies and programs material...They instead listen to their HiFi equipt and watch their TVs.....
Experience means a lot more than numbers....To read the MSI/Sager/Asus and the larger M15/17X Alienware forums one would think pong could not be played on a GT335 video card.........barely. Must have a 5870......and get 20,000 points in some benchmark that has no basis in reality. Is 115 FPS better than 60FPS to the human eye? I think not. After 30FPS its all good. -
Hello is me getting 4.9 in 3D Gaming GFX a problem ? Got this after factory overclocked cpu
-
WEI rolled a few dice and the average was 3.4...
-
No, WEI is pointless, so it's not a problem at any score. -
The only two scores that matter are CPU performance, and 3d Gaming performance. Both are high, so that's all that matters. -
I know....... but i even have some keyboard input lag while playing tetris online...... i bet that intel gfx is the culprit meh :x
I think browser games use integrated gfx right? -
Online games use the integrated in a sense...but it is not really hardware accelerated graphics. It's all in the CPU unless you are using a version of Flash that supports CUDA or OpenCL acceleration. -
im at
5.7
5.9
3.8
6.4
5.9
How come my Win7 Performance Info index is 3.4?
