I've read the system recovery instructions... I do not own a reinstallation disk, only one for windows 7, which is no good as i would lose all my alienware programmes.

F8 on start + repair system doesn't work either... just starts up normally every time!!
and Alien Respawn just says : recovery partition seems to be missing or corrupted.
    Whatever that means....

Very confused on what i should do here.
I don't have any backup, but i'd like to start the computer from scratch, which i've never had any problems doing on other computers....
Not had this one long really.

In regards to Respawn, it probably means that the partition that contains the recovery info and data is either corruped (unreadable) or missing as in it doesn't exist anymore. This could also be a from not setting up the backup (respawn) software in the first place so it has no place to recover the data from. If you did set it up properly then it is likely that the files are simply corrupted or for whatever reason have been deleted.

As far as starting fro scratch goes you should be able to do so as long as you have the Win 7 disk and a disk that contains all the programs and drivers that come preinstalled on the system.
If you don't have a driver/program disk you can download most if not all of the from here.

hope this helps in some way.

    Hi,
I forgot to mention... i did try doing a full system back up, but then came "an error occured during the full system backup"
... and so... i'm a bit stuck with that.

I will try re-installing windows 7 then, see what happens...from there...

    Thank you for the reply.
