    How do i overclock my i7 to 2.5+

    hi guys for some reason i cant seem to overlock my i7 to get anywhere near 1.5+ right now i have speed step disabled and have it overclocked to 154... but i cant seem to get it anywhere near 1.5+!? :(

    am i doing something wrong? oh btw i have tb enabled also... do i have to have an app/program running in order to see the 2.5+

    any help would be appreciated thanks :(

    1.5ghz is all it's going to be because the maximum multiplier without Turbo Boost is 9, so it will be fsb*9 (154mhz*9 in your case). It only goes higher when Turbo Boost kicks in, and there's no way to make it constantly Turbo Boosted.

    A long shot but I'll ask - If you have TF2 can you play that fine when OC@166?

    My system will simply switch off after about an hours play guaranteed. No other game is affected. I reckon the source engine must stress the CPU somehow (I've not actually tested that though).

    I can OC@160 fine for hours on end.

    If you disable speed step I believe it also prevents turbo boost from working.

    i have had mines oc'ed and stable since day one =].

    thanks for all the feedback turned speed step back on and it works but sadly i can only oc mine up to 156 :( lol thnx again all!
