I just got M11x from my brother, I'm a bit embarrass to bring it to my uni. How do you feel bringing your m11x or alienware to public places?

I'd be too paranoid to just get my laptop out in any public place, i just don't trust anyone to not try and steal it.

With my custom rainbow alienfx profile, I become a chick magnet. But seriously, because it lights up, I get people coming up to me and go, "What's Alienware?". I have no qualms with explaining to them how awesome it is.

Man up bro, use it. Turn off the lights if you want. Nobody bothers me about my computer unless it's at LAN parties

Whats the point of getting a laptop with a changing color keyboard if you're not going to show it off?

I feel a lot better than the crowd of Fanbois around me. I seek uniqueness.

But really, I love taking my little alien out in public. People either think its soo cool, or they ignore it.

Man, I've got no problems at all. It's unique, looks and different. It stands out. I have a M15X with a M11X on the way.
It stands out from the ever-growing Macbook Pro population, MANY just getting them because it's the “trendy hipster” thing to do... With an AW it makes you look awesomely awesome! lol.

I take mine to uni all the time, with me studying animation, many know what it is and besides the ongoing argument that AW are a waste of money for their specs, people are pretty good about it.
I just point out my reasons for why I got it... Mainly because it was the best bang for my buck with what I wanted and the likes. And that I don't want to be another cloned hipster...

    Enjoy. :3

Love it man, just because it doesn't look like a MBP doesn't mean you should feel embarrassed to whip it out in public.

I love it when I catch people glancing out the corner of their eye at my M11x and eventually say "Is that keyboard changing colour?".
If you want to be noticed, have a morphing colour profile for your keyboard. ;)

I use it at work, in a school district where everybody's either Mac or Dell, and nobody cares in a bad way. The few that ask me are blown away when I explain to them how much 'better' it is than, say, a MacBook Air, and that I got it for just under $500.

My wife cares about stuff like this, and she wouldn't mind having it, even if only for the light-up keyboard. It's a feature she'd REALLY like.

I may have to move on from the m11x this Spring, and it is choking me up.

I've brought the m14x to uni with no issues.

    Nothing to be embarrassed about.

If you owned a Porsche, would you be embarrassed driving it to uni or any public place for that matter? :) Same concept.

The M11X/M14X gets positive attention in public areas - nothing negative ever comes from it unless you're careless and walk through a ghetto at 2-3AM alone.

I feel just fine. You are just a socially awkward person or you are too concerned with other's opinion. Not a good way to live your life. Who cares what other people think.

I bring my AW to class about once a month; to let ppl know that I have one and not showing it keeps them wanting to see moar. Also I'm too lazy to carry it along with bookz lolz.

@School , people often says " Oh your laptop is sooooooo coooool " without even know it's for gaming.

@Work , ppl are like " WOWOWO BOOM BOOM DISCO NIGHT LOL "

@Bars ( yeah , i used it in bars sometimes, too hard to choose between homeworks and beer ) and that's where i got the weirded comments " omg look at that geek, laptop in a bar blabla " ... High school , your best partner to destroy your gaming / social life.

But yeah , @school i'm kinda proud of having it, but in other places, ppl just makes fun of me , but i actually don't care ( even if yes ,it's a bit bothering )

if I'm in class, I'll turn off the lighting. Actually if I'm on the battery, I generally turn the lighting off anyway to save battery.

but yes, this laptop can be kinda "flashy" and will definitely draw comments. I had a group of people form around me at an airport a few times talking about my laptop.

The trick is confidence. Just act like nothing is weird and most folks will leave you alone. I'm not even a hyper-confident person, but all that matters is that you look like you know what you're doing.

Word. I got this cute little yummy sitting behind me at work. She digs it. Or maybe its me, one or the other. My money is on the Alienware though...I am not vain after all

It is what is inside that matters anyway.

What's inside you, the lappy, or her? :p

I use my M11x all the time when i'm sitting in the car waiting for someone or i pull it out at my mate's work when i'm waiting for him to finish his shift. If anyone tried to "make fun" of me having it i'm fairly certain my response would be "Oh yea? probably better than the POS you have".

I'll have no problem bringing it out in public. Actaully that's the main reason I bought it, take to my photo shoots with me and to coffee shops to look for additional clients.

I use my M11x R1 in public occasionally and keep the lights off. No one really says much about it. I use the lights at night to see the keyboard. I rarely if ever take the M17x R2 out in public. You want some looks? Take a silver 17" rainbow lit system out in public :p
