I just got my r2 and the face recognition thing is cool but I have 2 questions.

How much battery life does it chew up?

If I want to be able to have someone else use it and I can't get to the computer, is there any way they can just type in a password? - I understand that would kind of defeat the purpose of the face recognition software. But the reason I ask is I was on the phone and the software wouldnt recognize me until i put the phone down lol.

I don't personally use it, I tried it out on my m15x and m17x's and honestly it's a gimic at best, it's very hard to get it to work correctly every time. I find a password is quicker and easier. Yes you can do just a password even if the facial recognition is on.

I use it and half of the time it works near perfectly, but once you lose light or change the background then things get a bit iffy, i think it is a great technology to have.

I thought of it as more of a gimmick. Used it for a day and then disabled the service.

Yerp, as stated you can still use a password.

Plus the AlienSence needs to 'condition' itself for lighting conditions and etc, plus wearing glass... well you see where I'm heading

Observation: @DaneGRClose - What has that child got behind that Pumpkin???
Edit: NO further comments required. Query on observations sated. The shadow of Batboy is over me already. :D

I tried it for a week and I looked like an idiot in lecture halls trying to line up my face correctly for 60 seconds ...sometimes more. It's one of the most useless tools I've ever used on a computer.

I used it for some weeks, works fine in my opinion, but like some say, if you change lights or try to log in other room, it does not work, in my work I have a big window to my left, and it was like 2 seconds to get my face, way faster than the password, but once I get home, in my room, not working...

I now don´t use it, not because I think is bad, works in some conditions and save you time, but because I updated the Command Center and I need to setup it back....

Disable AlienSense, AlienFusion and use the better Synaptics drivers rather than AlienTouch. You're then left with AlienFX only which is not resource hungry at all. I gave Lite a go and didn't care for the interface and thus was left without a compelling reason to use it.

I thought it was cool and used it when I first got the machine. But it adds to my boot time and I find that its too cumbersome to use when the lighting conditions chage even the slightest.
