I currently have a 500gb hard drive with 110gb that I want to back up as a failsafe in-case of something bad happening. Its de-fragged and virus free. I have a clean 120gb external HDD. What is your opinion on how I should back up my hard drive? The windows backup feature? Acronis? Something similar? Preferably free.
Thanks,
DeeVu

The built in Windows 7 backup is pretty good. The reminder features in the OS should nag you enough to keep your data mostly backed up.
Personally I've been using Mozy.com for a couple years now, and it has already saved me twice from laptop hard drive failures. It does cost money (4.95/mo) but unlimited backup space and you just install it, configure it, then forget about it. -
are you trying to back up the data or are you trying to preserve the state of the computer?

I used windows back up and made an image of my PC. Took awhile but it was pretty easy.
