Got around 10 more cpu score with .3 over .2

I just fine tuned at M11x=4 and I was able to milk 26 seconds from the Wprime32.. and that at FSB of 152.. imagine you guys who are nailing 160+?
-
i want to see a 166 fsb i7 with a tdp/tcp set to like 100/100.

I accidentally forgot to check "set multiplier" and that solved my problem. Got my WPrime score into the 24 to 26 range! Wierd.
Hey, I object to being referred to as a "guy" since I am a "gal".
-
Hmm here are my 32m scores with an I5 using the x.3 version with the multiplier at 9, TDP at 60w, TDC at 180, and a varying y for M11x=y:
y=20 36.142
y=16 36.2
y=12 36.254
y=8 36.227
y=4 36.114
y=1 36.381
Then I tried some larger values to check for a change:
y=50 36.33
y=150 38.219
I tried y=150 again to be sure that wasn't a fluke and got
y=150 36.856
Am I doing something wrong perhaps? What does the value correspond to?
BTW, do you have to exit Throttle Stop entirely for it to reload its config file, or is starting and stopping it enough? I exited entirely just to be safe. -
Great work Bily42. If you've done any fine tuning, post your settings so I can see what works best. That time puts most guys to shame.
corwinicre: If you don't have any turbo throttling issues then this new feature isn't going to do anything for you.
This new setting controls the frequency that ThrottleStop updates the TDP/TDC register. A smaller y value and this register will get updated more frequently. You're only going to see a benefit from this when you start pushing the BCLK higher. -
-
tassadar898: Share your settings. If it's a secret, send me a PM and I'll try to keep quiet. Great work.

-
Please post short and sweet method on this huge thread on page 1!!
Great job all! -
Hey Wprime doesn't work for me no matter were i put it.
-
260.89 beta nvidia desktop drivers available on this forum
EVGA percision GPU OC: 587/1487/925
CPU OC: i5 162 fsb
TS: TDP/TCP 200/200 and M11x:7 (set multiplier unchecked)
Oh also FYI I played 2 hours of SC2 today (a cpu intensive game) straight and my max temps with TDP/TCP set at 200/200 and it was 76C on core 2 and 70C on core 1... a little toasty but nothing to worry about at all! -
The line M11x=20 does not appear in the ThrottleStop.INI file of the 2.88.3 version I just downloaded from the MediaFire link. Do you mean for users to insert the line and experiment with different values?
-
Yes. You have to add M11x=20 and set it to whatever you like.
It's a secret setting for those that are reading this forum on NBR. -
Did you get that 25seconds on 166fsb? thats pretty impressive. how long of gaming can you do on this setting? -
With some fine tuning maybe Bily42 will break through the 25 second barrier.
-
why isn't Wprime working for me? i followed your instructions but still doesn't work.
-
Try wPrime 1.55. Some of the newer versions are buggy. You can also try holding down the shift key when it first starts to bypass hardware detection.
-
Have not tried "fine-tuning" yet....will try tomorrow. -
I bumped the fsb up to 152 mhz (about as high as it's stable) to play around with it.
m11x 32m
4 31.846
8 31.375
12 31.744
16 31.984
20 33.782
From the one run, 8 appears to be the best for me also but with everything below 20 being a nice increase!
edit: forgot to mention that's with TDP/TDC at 200 each. -
corwinicre: Now you're having fun like everyone else here is. You had me worried when your first replies on page 1 of this thread indicated no performance improvement. I'm glad I didn't give up after reading that.

On the I5 OC'd to 166 I got 28.892. 20/60 on the TPL. M11x=8 :

Well the new 2.88.3 has definitely improved my score.
OC 160mHz and 200/200 (M11x=8): 32m - 25.293 secs
Looking forward to any more improvements, love your work unclewebb! -
First time poster.
This new software has improved my laptop a ton and i really appreciate it.
However
I am a n00b when it comes to computers, and because of that i only set the tdp/tdc at 20/60, double what it was initially. it has improved greatly however i was wondering if doing any of the fine tuning would be too dangerous since i dont really know what i'm doing.
sry for disrupting the conversation. -
Rypac: We've reached the end of the road for this project. Even Dell doing TDP/TDC correctly in the bios would not lead to any significant improvement to what you are getting with ThrottleStop. Users are now able to get full turbo boost where before there were situations when fully loaded where there was none.
tulron41: I haven't seen anything negative about raising the TDP/TDC so you might as well set that to 60/60 so this is not a limiting factor to how much turbo boost you will get. For comparison, a Core i7 desktop quad core CPU is set at the factory to 130/110 so a dual core being set to half that amount isn't going to hurt these CPUs any. Core temperatures have not been an issue when users have been overclocked with a higher BCLK setting in the bios while using ThrottleStop so there's no need to worry in my books.
The most popular tweak for version 2.88.3 seems to be adding this to the ThrottleStop.INI file.
M11x=8
For version 2.89 you can try adding 8 to the Force TDP/TDC box in the Options... dialog.
You can use any text editor on that file like Notepad, etc., and add that line for a final little boost in performance. You didn't mention any details like what CPU you are using and if you are overclocking it. ThrottleStop does the most good, the harder you are running your CPU. When you overclock your CPU, it will try to run faster but the UM processors get limited by the default TDP/TDC setting. We've finally knocked down that limitation so it is open season. Even with all the tweaks, these CPUs are still running at only about three-quarters of what a regular Core i5 mobile chip is designed to run at so no one here is running their CPU into the ground. They're just trying to run it at a performance level that Dell should have included in the first place. -
Well i got it all working no tweaking just set to 20/60 gfx were 545/1308/920 & i got a new high score=) as compared to the old one in my sig id say that's a major improvement. with some more tweaking im sure it will be better.
TS 2.83.3 didn't seem to work for me for some reason. Ill try all this again tomorrow night Thanks for the wonderful program dude!

HEY GUYS,
I want to make sure that you guys are aware that UNCLEWEBB does not charge for his software but goes out of his way to help you out and making the m11x even more powerful. I hope you show your appreciation with a donation heck buy the man a beer he deserves that if not more than that. His other software real temp has a donate options but he should be adding the donate option in throttlestop as well.
THANKS UNCLEWEBB -
Beer? I'm thinking we can pool enough donation scratch to get him a sizable discount towards an M11x of his own.
-
Thanks guys. Now that I'm satisfied with the performance of this new feature, I'll probably add the M11x= tweaking option directly to the Options... GUI tomorrow so it will be easier to access and while I'm busy working, I'll add in a Donate option too. I definitely think this is great value for the money.
PSYCHOTRON: When your 3DMark06 CPU score jumps 40%, it looks like you either swapped the CPU or you were cheating.
Fantastic results. There might be a few more points to be gained when you get 2.83.3 tweaked tomorrow. The new version needs to have ThrottleStop turned on and showing ThrottleStop Enabled at the top right for it to work correctly. That might have been the problem you were having with it. Bedtime here. Looking forward to some more results tomorrow. -
-
Yea i almost fell out of my chair when i saw that. LOL it does look like cheating but i wouldn't even know how to. Its definitely real i am stoked for sure man. I will do more testing as i have time & will put it through some gaming this weekend. Off to bed thanks again cant wait to use TS after you update it. -
Tested 2.88.3 this evening.
i7@166
TDP/TDC = 200/200
M11x=8
Multiplier fluctuated at about 13.8x
4Prime 32M scores very consistently right at 25s.
Changed M11x=4 and my multiplier is rock solid at 14x with no appreciable change in wP times.

all those i7 numbers makes me wish i got the i7! especially since i play SC2 alot which is strictly cpu bottlenecked.

Here are my results, thank you so much unclewebb for contributing so much to the M11x R2!
Also on a side note, does anyone know why VirtualMark does this for me?
I see N/A and Not Specified all over the place.

This is nuts!!!
thanks a lot man! I will also donate and get you a beer! -
Holy crap this is unreal...very awesome!!! I am running i7@162 TDP/TDC 200/200 and m11x=4....coming in at 25.277 wprime...at m11x=8 25.384

Has anyone else considered how ridiculous it is that we are spending hours and hours trying to get this chip to operate at its normal capacity? And then we are overjoyed at being able to do so.
Don't many laptops come with this chip already "unleashed" - no muss no fuss. -
Quick question, I know there's an option to turn off ThrottleStop automatically when going from AC to battery, but is there any way to automatically turn on ThrottleStop when going from battery to AC?
Also, I'm reporting improvement with the latest ThrottleStop on my i7
152-156mhz = 27-29 seconds at m11x=4 and 8. -
delete please

Hopefully in a another month or two someone will find something else to boost the little beast even further! -

Dang wPrime wont work on my computer it gives a weird error,
what other benchmark would you like me to use? -
Now, to be honest, trying to get Alienware to fix this would have been a lot harder (and futile), although it`s their product.
It`s sad to see everything today become more and more dumbed down and engineered a lot worse than it was 5-10 years ago, although we now have the technology at our fingertips.
Fortunately there are some people out there that make the difference, like Kevin. Although I`m not sure I`ll be able to donate (cba to make a PayPal account), when I`ll visit your country I`ll make sure to buy you lotsa beers. Thanks again for the great work man!
How to Supercharge the M11x with Core i5/i7 UM CPUs
