It's probably the same on most all computers...I can turn mine off in the BIOS.

Look for a section called 'OPTIMUS.'

Disable it, and it will use the nvidia card all the time.

You don't want to. The IGP handles output to the display for both cards.

You can't actually disable the Intel card, but you can enable the Nvidia card all the time following these steps:

    1. Right-click on the desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings on the left
    3. Click the Global Settings tab
    4. Select "High-performance NVIDIA processor" from the dropdown box
    5. Click apply and close the control panel.

Programs should now always use the Nvidia card.

you cannot "disable" but you can tell specific programs to use just the nvidia gpu using the steps posted above.

Thanks for all the replies, I got problem with a Japanese game which can't run with nvidia chip. Even when I change global settings like Radam said but still no go. This happens since I update to 257.33, so may be rollback is the only way.

So, my latitude has the ability to disable OPTIMUS, but your Alienware doesn't...odd....

I don't think you can disable Optimus. You could just go into the Control Panel and select high performance for all programs and such. This is why I like Hybrid better, apart from Hybrid driver support.

Sure you're not referring to hybrid graphics (manual switching)? That was the predecessor to Optimus. Every single Optimus system I know about utilizes the IGP for video output to the display, therefore making it impossible to disable the IGP (if you want to see anything). Hybrid systems on the other hand are made so that the IGP and the dedicated card each handles their own output to the panel.
