Disabling the *application* (as in the software running on your PC) will not help you save much battery life. But if you still want to do it, just right-click on the little Alienware alien-head icon in your system tray (bottom-right, near the system clock), and hit Exit.

If you want to save battery life, then you should turn off the AlienFX lighting effects. To do this, right-click on the Alienware alien-head icon in your system tray (bottom-right, near the system clock), and hit Go Dark.
