Yea pretty much what the title says.

I will probably try to upgrade the HDD and the RAM after I get my hands on the base model of the m11x after they start shipping them with new hinges.

Pretty easy just pop the bottom lid off which has like 10 screws or so and just take the old hdd out which is 2 or 4 screws kinda forgot, And take the old ram out and pop in the new ones :)

Base model is just as upgradeable as max models :)

Its very easy, but just a tip, use the correct screw driver for screws because 3 of mine stripped, and I was very careful. For me, getting the plate off was the hardest thing.

In addition to what was already said, you're limited to 9mm (I think) width hard drives. Pretty much that means to 1 tb drives, but that's about it. Otherwise, very nicely upgradable. Just keep in mind that RAM gets downclocked to 800 MHz, so don't waste money trying to get the fastest DDR3 you can.

I just ordered mine (R2). the prices on the upgrades were extortionate! I have ordered 8GB of RAM for £70 that I will fit myself, and I will swap over my 640GB HDD from my PS3 which only cost me £50 when I bought it a few months ago.

Dell want a whopping £380 for the 8GB RAM upgrade and £110 for the HDD... Are they crazy!?

Agreed, buy a quality set of drivers (not some harbor freight or wallmart special) and you wont tear up your system.. Actually wishing I had done this with the prices that they charge on the dells site..
