Title says it all. I'm considering this if it helps performance a lot. Right now i'm getting like 17 fps when i view the respawn view.

It plays very well. I did some benchmarking here and these are the results:

    1.6Ghz:
    2011-01-12 17:21:44 - BFBC2Game
    Frames: 4027 - Time: 99777ms - Avg: 40.360 - Min: 28 - Max: 69

    2.07Ghz:
    2011-01-12 17:28:24 - BFBC2Game
    Frames: 5425 - Time: 99225ms - Avg: 54.674 - Min: 42 - Max: 88

The gains are roughly linear, as the CPU gains ~30%, the game gains ~30% extra performance. But even 1.8Ghz is more playable then 1.6Ghz.

The benchmark consists of running FRAPS and an empty Atacama server. I would spawn, enter a Humvee and park it in front of the Abrams. I would wait 10s for the frames to stabilize and then drive off for the 3 capture points. At the first, I would shoot an orange building with 2 clips before moving to cap the ship. I would stay in the Humvee while waiting. Then at C, while capping, I would fire tubes and throw grenades into a building with a balconey and then unload the rest of my ammo. I repeated this for the 2.07Ghz test.

You need to cut/lift Pin 2 of your PLL to set FS_B to 0. It be right next to the pin with a white triangle pointing to it. Then, when disable Overclock mode for 266mhz FSB, 1066mhz RAM, normal VID and SpeedStep. You will gain 8.4% performance.

No comment on your warranty besides what I already said.

Eek, I'd be too worried about something breaking after I pinmod and getting denied by warranty claims. Even if I decided to pinmod, I'd pay 20$ for a local tech to do it for me (they charge 20$/30min; 40$/1hr) :p

    Whats the nevermind towards?

The 2ghz one seems the easiest.

I'm going to practice soldering tomorrow.

Prior to me knowing about it voiding the warranty, I gave a local computer repair shop a call and he told me he could do it. I assume the process takes under 30 minutes, therefore making it 20$ :)

But ...after finding out that it voids the warranty, I'm going to skip it. :p

@All - CPU speed matters. If you look in the m15x forums under my post (What does TURBO do for you?), even a 133-150mhz increase can give 4-6 fps increase. A balance of strong CPU and GPU are required for BFBC2. If your cpu is slow you can't feed the info to the GPU fast enough to process. Likewise if you CPU is fast but your GPU is slow you can only run low graphics options.

If you are able to optimize and get some more oomph out of your CPU then I would do what you think is safe.

Remember, Each frame counts. Take Every Frame Prisoner.
