How well does the m11xr3's IGP fair in Starcraft 2?

TL;DR: is the m11xr3's HD3000 IGP (and not the desktop variant, with different base clocks, for reason outlined below) capable of powering Starcraft 2? I mean, for at least a 1v1 game? Which the current R2 IGP fails at :( And would it hold in a 3v3? :D [campain performance doesn't correlate with multiplayper performance, in my experience]

    Hello,

I'd like to ask this question of m11xr3 owners, as the i5/i7 ULV CPUs HD3000 IGP has a lower base clock (~300 MHz vs ~600MHz) vs other Sandy Bridge CPUs, though has a similar "turbo clock." However, in practice, I have noted the m11xr2's i7, especially with throttlestop enabled, killed the "turbo clock" of the IGP on it :( I know the turbo clock is close, however, it's not worked out for so that way on my R2....

    So....

given some reviews showing the desktop Intel GMA HD3000 ROFLPWNing the old Intel GMA HD IGP on the fastest desktop variant of said GPU (the HD3000 desktop variant is faster the the AMD HD5450 in Starcraft 2, it seems ), I'm wondering if the same could be said of the mobile variant, especially of the ULV HD3000 :)

    Thank you very much!!

EDIT: I'm asking since I have a 6 hr plane alarmingly frequently for work :(, and it's just not working with my current m11xr2's IGP... (I'm also looking to replace my m11xr2 for a lot of other reasons, but that's something else :p) Not to mention, the fan is a LOT quieter with only the IGP.

The Intel HD 3000 is said to be roughly equivalent to Nvidia's 310M.. But perhaps they are referring to the highest possible clocked HD 3000.. Found in a 35watter Sandybridge.. The 17 watt ULP Sandybridge CPUs are clocked lower than their 35watt brothers.. I wouldn't imagine a large performance difference in GPU performance... probably just stricter turboboosting.

My buddy has a Nvidia 210M in his laptop and runs SC2 at near full settings with no issues.. very smooth.. So if the HD3000 is close to a 310M.. it would be very nice indeed..

aww, thanks!! It looks like I am set on a m11xr3, anyhow :(. Some nice CUDA4.0 functionality isn't present on the 335m, and that was a nastly little slip up for me when I tried porting one of my projects from my desktop.

Might be more viable to purchase some sort of external battery or additional battery (is the r3 still inside the case?)

I had thought about getting an external battery, however, that would kinda push the weight far higher than I'd like

as for secondary battery, the m11x design needs to unscrew some 8+2 screws in order to remove the battery

    thank you :)

There's always an external battery to charge the internal..
