Just curious, I bought mine when it was first launched and before I remember getting readings of around 6.5 hours of battery life with AlienFX lights turned on when fully charged, and after fully charing windows 7 tells me I have around 5.5 hours left. What do you guys think? Is it reasonable for the battery to be degrading at this rate? If it comes to the point where the battery is just well crap, is it possible to order a replacement?

You can order a replacement, but you may have to make a phone call--some of these items are difficult to find on the store. I've only had my R1 for about two months now, and haven't noticed a large degrade it time--but I've had it mostly plugged in recently.

And also, hover over the battery multiple times. I know mine gives different readings based on what I'm doing. Say I'm actively browsing the web then check, it's usually down around 5 hours. If I let it idle on the desktop for a few minutes, it jumps up to 7 hours.

Use the latest version of HWMonitor to check battery wear percentage.

Alright I downloaded HW monitor, right now I set it in the bios not to charge because I am about to do some gaming, and the battery is at 92%. HWMonitor reads the wear as -6%, that good or bad for about 6 months of usage?

Maybe it's not reading properly. The wear number should be positive. :/

For me, BatteryBar and HWMonitor read the exact same values, but you never know.

My HWMonitor battery Wear Level is -5% as seen in the display.
Maybe it has to wear down 5% before it can start to wear. :D

If one saves the monitoring data to file and then has a look at it, it says the Wear Level is n.a.

    I'm using 1.16.0 64bit HWMonitor

    Hardware monitor Battery 1
    Voltage 0 16.55 Volts [0x40A1] (Current Voltage)
    Capacity 0 64530 mWh [0xFC12] (Designed Capacity)
Capacity 1 68390 mWh [0x10B26] (Full Charge Capacity)
    Capacity 2 68390 mWh [0x10B26] (Current Capacity)
    Level 0 n.a. [0x69] (Wear Level)
    Level 1 100 pc [0x64] (Charge Level)

My battery is fine. As already stated the battery level is continually recalculated to reflect the current load, so one minute it could be 5½ hours the next it could be 7¼. Just think of it as magic.

Edit: BatteryBar v3.4.0 says Battery Wear 0.0% of 64530mWh
With charge level the same on both HWMonitor and BatteryBar as they decrease with AC off.

Probably just that HWMonitor is using the Current Capacity level which is higher than the Designed Capacity.... or something... yawn.

Battery bar reads it as 0.0% I think there might be something wrong with these readings.

you need to completely discharge and recharge your laptop battery in order to calibrate tools like HWmonitor and battery bar

A negative value means that the actual measured capacity is larger than capacity that the battery is technically supposed to have. That's a good thing. BatteryBar will show the correct negative value - or at least the same value that HWMonitor shows - once your battery is fully charged.
