I don't use my M11x R1 much and was going to sell it, but every time I break it out to sell it, I just... can't! It is just a great compact notebook. It doesn't perform as well as I'd like it to for newer games, but heck, it does play older games well.
Problem is these days most of what I play is Bad Company 2 and probably Battlefield 3 of which it will probably run like molasses on the R1.
I bought one when they were first introduced because I got a rock bottom deal on it with the coupons, and months later sold it and practically made my money back. I later bought this M11x R1 from the Outlet and it has been a solid little machine. But I just don't use it much. I feel like I could pocket $500 and make better use of the money, but just can't get myself to.
Am I crazy?

does m11x have mxm slots? is the cpu replacable? Okay I saw ur sig, ur M11x is amaZING!! WHOAH! 460 is beast for a gpu. I feel like you could pocket a lot more than 500 thats for sure!! Id buy it for 700 but I dont need it lol.

pin mod it, it will feel like a different PC for sure, mine did for me.

Yeah, GPU overclocked too. Get about 3DMark06 of 7600.
-
hahaha the 460 its on his desktop -
Same problem. I actually tried to sell my m11x locally to get my M15x, but, I just couldn't part with it. Mine is pinmodded as well, and TBH, it performs better than the M15x on battery, so, for when I travel, its great. Anyways, when I finally replace it with an R3 (or R4, by then) I'll use it as an HTPC.
Won't pull much power at all, and will do what I want.
-
Yeah, I think I'm going to keep mine now. I'll make up the $500 some other way! Maybe replace it with an Ivy Bridge version. Should be significantly faster by then. Heck the IGP in the Ivy Bridge will probably be as powerful as a stock speed 335m.
-
Hah, most likely. When the R4 comes out, if it does, I'll sell my M15x and get it. By then, who knows. Maybe it gets a 460M equivalent GPU, hah.
-
I don't know, I would gladly part with my M15X for a R3. Mainly for the better life and great size. The 6-7 hours of battery life saves you the energy from fighting with other school mates as to who gets the outlet.
-
Very true. I still use the M11x for classes, or at least, will, once school starts again. I don't think it'll get too slow to use for classes for awhile, though, since the rest of my class in on Atoms, haah. I use my M15x for AutoCAD only.

I just gave BFBC2 another go, and have to say it actually performs well with 24 player servers. 32 it can struggle if there's lots of players in one area. This is where I think it will be impossible to play BF3 because who wants to play 24 man servers when 64 will be available!?
-
Hah, BC2 is the reason I got an M15x. The M11x just couldn't play it to my liking... Maxing it on here. Hah. The R3 handles it great, though.
-
I can't part with mine because there's nothing truly comparable that will fit in my motorcycle's tank bag (will not fit the 13.3" notebooks people *insist* on comparing it to). I love it.
-
Not using it? Sell it! Squirrel the cash away for the next iteration or something that you would use often.
Seriously. The longer you wait the more it drops in value. -
I thought that the older an item is, more expensive it is. I could sell a 1989 PC...
but I also regret getting the M11X. At least I searched for a M11X thread and found you guys
Sell it. And my theory about BFBC2 and BF3 is that BF3 could run better, because BFBC2 was a shoddy port like Black Ops
I can't get myself to sell my M11x R1!
