My question is do i still use the service tag for the original laptop, or do i now start using the code on the refurb?
-
I think the service tag on the refurb one, the one your using now

I was just wondering for future reference =D, also i was upgraded from 4gb ram to 8gb, from 250gb hdd to 500, and su7300 from 4100, i can't really complain -

Blargh, I've spent the last 2 hours swapping out parts, - The speakers on the replacement were doa, needed to remove the mobo in each to do so =/.
Fixed now, great like frosted flakes. -
so they gave you a system replacement that was mostly an upgrade except alot of the parts were DOA?
sounds fair, what did they give you a replacement for? -
Pretty much yes. - I've had many problems with my system [keep in mind i ordered @ launch] - but my overall experience has been good, any time i have a problem it is swiftly replaced - Over time I reached 10 LCD replacements [half of which were due to bad refurbished parts (others due to hinges and pixel related issues)] - My old system was on its last legs really, it had been taken apart so many times i was having to go find larger screws to fit the holes =D.
I had a hard time getting a system replacement because i never had any motherboard issues, finally it started bsod'ing on graphics swap and finally i got a system replacement. I'd had it oc'd since day one, i do not think that was the issue. -
Make sure to keep proof of shipping back to Dell, and confirm with them on upon delievery confirmation. I had to call them few times to make sure all my warranty were transferred, and I've seen few people where their new systems were flagged even after sending back the original system, causing problems on warranty support delay.

You just have to call them and get a shipping label.
I finally managed to get a system replacement -
