It's the i7 8gb ram model for about $1100(tax and hidden fees included). I didn't wait for the R3 because A) It will most likely cost a lot more and B)This is my birthday gift from my mom.

    Happy birthday,

Good luck with your m11x, they are a great system other then the hinge design.

I had to get my hinges repaired twice, although the 2nd time it seems a lot more sturdier - probably the new hinge design but i dont know for a fact.

I heard about the hinge thing but they were mostly reports from last year. Hopefully they've gotten it right by now?

Honestly no, dell somehow haven't learn anything they should through trial and error. but when you get your product you'll have the warranty for it. just open the lcd a lot like what I do to "ensure" that it's staying strong. if it breaks then w/e call dell

It's funny, I always thought Alienware laptops had good built quality. My crappy Compaq laptop had no hinge problem. Idk, if they haven't dealt with the problem then it must be a problem with only a few of the laptops. Though with my luck, I'll probably get the faulty one(Xbox 360, Droid X, ATI graphics card).

alienware laptops are built like tanks, but the hinge issue has been fixed, dell is good about learning from mistakes.

    "Few laptops?"

Many users have report hinge problems on the m11x, there's even a specific thread for it.

I'm not trying to be a - I'm just giving you the reality of the m11x. I have both the m15x and the m11x both are great laptops.

You should be fine though your in a win/win

You win by having an alienware m11x, and you win even if you still have a hinge problem because of your warrenty

Yeah they are good at learning from mistakes. Like when the m15x had the same hinge issues, it didn't carry over to the m11x hinges because they learned, right? Oh wait...

ok dude, were talking about the m11x here not the m15x.
im saying they learned from the issue on the m11x, and rolled out a new hinge. get my point? they learned from the problem, unlike most computer company's

errr....even if the hinge breaks outside of warranty they did announce that it would be fixed with the new hinge design.

Hey guys, quick question. Is the M11x's screen size and overall size really small like a netbook and makes it look like a toy? Or is it just the right size.

It feels much bigger than a netbook.

Screen is a bit small for long term office use but its really good for most entertainment related activities. If it is a toy, its a very powerful toy that no one will laugh at you but envy.

It depends on what netbook you compare too the m11x.

Like my 1201n netbook which is a 12.1in screen in sig its about a inch and a half bigger than the m11x long ways and about a inch top ways. and the m11x is a bit thicker but i wouldn't call the m11x thick at all. But weight wise ya its pretty heavy too be a netbook :)

1201n is around 3.2lbs vs 4.6lbs m11x, But too me the m11x is a bit more portable because its a bit smaller. And you get all the power of the m11x and whats funny is i get better battery life on the m11x than the 1201n which is 3hours and half lol.

Oh and i forgot about the quality, The m11x is really high quality compare too my 1201n and doesn't feel like a toy at all. I even like the build quality better than my big 15.6 asus g50vt.

And ever sense i got this laptop which is my first alienware i think i will always look at them first before any other company now, Even tho they expensive but you get what you pay for :)

It took me a while to get used to just because my desktop monitor is so big but now it seems perfect. Theres no comparison between my gfs acer notebook and my m11x... the notebook is quite incapable in that u cant do much more than take notes on it. The m11x feels and looks like a dense power-packed machine, capable of almost anything, that has a small screen only because it makes it more convenient.

That said i'm quite keen to get my hands on the new m14x when it comes out :p

If you have an external monitor, you'll be fine in the office. I use mine at work.

    Happy Birthday!

    You'll absolutely love the M11X!

It's a stunning and glorious machine. I don't think I could ever replace it in the future unless it was a revised M11X (or other AW product) :p

    Happy Birthday :D !
If you're a power user and love setting all games on ultra GFX, then give your hopes up. This PC will likely play them at medium-low-PS1. If I were you I would have gotten' a Desktop :p .
