Title says it all.
Example of what I am talking about: EVGA 01G-P3-1378-TR GeForce GTX 460 FTW External Exhaust Video Card -
If this doesn't work are there cards that do work externally? I'm just curious.
edit: Probably not interested in it but was just wondering to see how they work on this or if its feasible.
-
That card is for a desktop PC, not a laptop. Its just a normal GPU with a cool fan on it.
-
Haha oh wow fail. SO much for me typing in "external GPU" and coming up with an "internal" one
-
Are you referring to a DiY ViDock?
I haven't done much benchmarking comparing their performance against the GT335, but I do know they work, and work well for those with Intel Integrated graphics. You found me! -
You're probably talking about something like this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/418851-diy-vidock-experiences.html
It's not really useful imo, as you can't get it to work on the internal display... at least not at the full framerate. -
Ah alright thanks for all the feedback. I was just curious. I haven't done much research and my friend brought it up earlier today. I guess it isn't too feasible for this little guy. Cheers

The point is to get high FPS at higher resolutions on bigger monitors. It may not be as useful for us as we're cranking out 7k+ 3dmarks already, but there are people in that DIY ViDock thread getting 15-20k with some cards - even though they're effectively gimped.
I'm a noob at External GPUs - Would they be viable?
