I just installed IE9, and I must say I'm impressed at how stable it is. I use a 3G network for internet service and the load times are much faster.
-
The imprint is also a lot smaller like chrome. Working on a smaller screen is a lot easier when you don't have a crapload of "top bar" space taken up.
-
I already dropped Firefox for Chrome in most all cases. The M11x only further warrants it because Chrome gives you valuable screen real-estate. Haven't used IE9 all that much but it looks okay. Still not as snappy as Chrome was.
-
I just used f11 all the time on IE8, so I didn't notice the imprint as much, but yes, I like that everything is off the screen.
Pop-ups now default to tabs, which saves me trouble when using Google News. -
Chrome all day
-
FireFox 4 now mimics chrome in terms of form factor. You get the same, or very close to what chrome offers now.
-
stupid question... do you need to un-install IE8 before installing ie9??
-
Stupid anwser - No.
You will ONLY have IE9.0 available after you have upgraded.
For those with Virtual XP mode PCs enabled, you can create multiple instances and thus have one for each IE version.
I have three, IE6, IE7 and now IE8.
As it's a virtual PC firing up multiple instances at the same time drain memory and impact the CPU.

when you install IE9 it goes to a website:
Beauty of the Web

I tride whitelisting IE9 but didn't get a better performace.. IE9 is suppos to use hardware acceleration but I dont think im getting that..

Am I the only one who hates the chrome look? Its too simple I like having a list of possible operations at my disposal and knowing what every single one of them does. Sad part is firefox 4 looks like chrome. I am going to try to not update for as long as possible.
-
I've been using IE since win95, hmm I think I might switch to IE9 whenever windows update offers me the optional update.
-
From what I understand, is a CPU test, it test the browser and 1 core of the CPU, I get 23fps with 1000 fish with my m11x i5
-
I was getting 6-12 fps when I had drivers 260.99... there's a setting in tools to use software rendering that won't let you uncheck it with that particular package. I switch to 267.24 beta and all is well - 60fps. 266.58 worked equally as well too.

m11xR1 OC 1.6Ghz Nvidia 263.08 IE9.0 GPU acceleration enabled.
Screen: 1079 x 585
Fish: 220
FSP: 19 - 21.
-
I won't install it out of principle. I waste more time every month getting code to work with Microsoft's ized intepretation of web standards than anything else. Boycott IE and send a clear message to Microsoft that they need to step into line and fix their broken browser.
-
why am I getting such crappy results?? i have I7 8gb ram.. 260.99 drivers
-
Update to a more recent driver. I had the same problem.
-
your right.. just updated drivers. that worked. cheers
-
I also enjoy useless clutter on my small screen.
-
im getting perfect frame rate in ie9

M11XR1 SU7300 1.6Ghz Intel 1994/Nvidia 263.08
On an M11xR1 you will not get the same GPU acceleration using the Intel IGP (DX10) as you will using the Nvidia GPU.
You will have to enable Nvidia GPU (DX10.1) and then you should increase the performance by around three times.
IE9.0 and Intel IGP only allows software acceleration with no option to use GPU acceleration.
IE9.0 and Nvidia GPU allows either software or GPU acceleration.
I haven't check if Intel GMA drivers or Nvidia drivers make a difference. -
OK, found my first issue with IE9. The download manager crashes when I try to download MS Office from Microsoft. MS hasn't updated their own sites, lol.
Other download sites work fine. -
hmmm weird, the intel gpu (4500mhd) has support for directx 10.
-
I thought is was DX9c, but documentation states the GMA 4500MHD supports DX10
I corrected by post.
However, there is still no option to use GPU acceleration when using Intel IGP on the M11xR1. -
Nope. My PC chokes if you add more fish, and stay on intergrated.
-
Just use Chrome.
-
i gues ie9 doesnt like integrated graphics.

M11xR1
I'm going back to Nvidia 260.63 Intel 2020 and see if that helps.
Currently using Nvidia 263.08 Intel 1994 -
Using v266, I get 14 FPS with 1000 fish. Window size 911x474. Not something I'd do every day. I get a solid 26 frames with 190 fish. Now I want to tweak my system more!
-
I just hate the new optimus technology.......
If I enable GPU acceleration along with NVIDIA then other sites will work fine, facebook will crash.
If I need to use facebook I have to use Intel gfx......arrrghhhh!
I bet NVIDIA needs some driver updates for IE9 D: -
Simple answer, use a good browser.
-
IE9 isn't that bad though
I enabled google chrome GPU acceleration and set my Nvidia GPU as the preferred ones but chrome still doesn't use Nvidia
-
Mozilla FireFox 4, plus an ad blocker, equals better than everything else
-
I never had an issue with IE. Don't see a need to upgrade at the moment. Maybe on the future i will. Heck, I don't ever remember what gpu drivers Im using. Though i rarely use the 335m. Only when gaming which is not often. That's for the 17x.
-
A good start! Now get chrome!
-
I will not download and use Mozilla Firefox out of principal. "Mozilla" was the original name of the University of Missouri's telnet tech service department (early 90s), and all record of that usage appears to have been wiped from the internets.
If history is restored on wiki, I may forgive the revisionists.

I just moved from chrome to ie9. Ive used firefox (all versions since 2), chrome (since I think version 6) and ie6,7, and a touch of 8. IE up to 8 are trash, serious trash, chrome is very very good, and firefox 4 as well, however due to the increased speed overall of ie9 Ive started using it alongside chrome (especially on my laptop). Its really very good, and I will continue to use it till chrome out-does it again. -
The scrolling does kinda own in ie9.
IE users, the upgrade is worth it
