Ideas for a new M11X-R3 Specifics Mods-Fresh install-and upgrades Advance Please

Ok I know there are to much post about this but all mixed... And because the R1/R2 and the R3 really are very different I think it will be nice to make a separate thread with all we know about the M11XR3 specific and working mods and tweaks to get the best from it...

If all of you help me I will like to make a M11xR3 specific thread were compile any information relevant to this model and all about how make new install, about updated drivers, about any tweaking or mods for general users-gamers, and any good mods or upgrade we can do to this great system...

If you like the idea let me know and I open a new thread with this in mind and compile all this...

I ask your help because I have some general PC/windows tech skill and time to do it but need of all the experienced user of this system after all I only have 1 month with it...

In the other hand if you have some good Ideas in how to make this thread the best possible I have will be happy to ear them

Yeah, though it'd be nice. There isn't much I think you can mod with this version (as much as you could with the others). The CPU is locked at it's turbo speed, the gpu can only be overclocked, and a BIOS volt mod only can increase the voltage to the gpu by up to .03v (which does nothing in terms of performance). I think we should just enjoy our little machine that can play every game at some degree of medium o high settings.

 

You could upgrade the memory to 1600 if not 1866.. If we can get Alienware to add support in bios.

 

Could the bios support it with a simple flash? Couldn't it be possible that it requires additional voltage to support those speeds?

If so wouldn't that added voltage reduce battery life and this remove the perk of mobile and long battery?

 

The faster ram is the same voltage as stock. It needs Alienware to support adding the timing for it in the bios. See the other thread if interested in bugging them about it.

Ok people, Right now I am making a record of all the info I can find... Then after reading twice I check what is more important and try it to see if it work fine and write any change I made in the guides I find so after that I will can put a good resume list of important and attractive mods, upgrades, how-to guides, etc... The way I want to focus this thread is for a place where we can came and check for the lasted working drivers and where to get them, or the place where to come and check what is the last mods or upgrade when we want to make a new fresh install, or the best place for any newbie to came here and read exactly what all of us want to know when we get a new top-of-art notebook like alienware for get the best we can from it without take 1-2 or 3 month reading before we get all we cant...

So please for all of you that have more time here give ideas in:
-what information you think is important to know? And any link please...
-What's mods you most like and why? Links
-What hardware or software upgrades have you done, and what gain or change can we expect with it? links pics or resume please...
-What are the most useful guides have you found, for what are they, and if are 100% ok or we need any change to apply to our m11XR3? Again links, author info, etc.
-What's useful mods have you see, make, or will do? any pics or links...

I ask you advance because you can imagine the big and mixed information we can find here and there so for one only people to compile all of it will take to much time, but if all of you help with your experience, and we only have to rewrite and compile all of that on a new and ordered thread, and then we only need to update it with any change in info or drivers or any, then this will help us to have a good and reliable place where to search when we need an update or see if there is something new or anything for further reference...

 

Right now I am testing the lasted drivers I found in Dell and Intel, and elsewhere to see if they work great and if they are stable, try some usefull programs, and some hardware upgrade and accesories, after that I will start doing this m11xr3 thread/guide/reference at now I am making:
-doing a fesh install guide and drivers list and working order install guide (but complete with all drivers with WIDI and WANN drivers)
-to make a list with the numbers and links,
-Little list of hardware upgrades I have test and the results.
-List of tweaks, images AW themes, or any other windows related tweaks or mods.
-list of accessories I have try and impressions when I get home (traveling now) I will try to take some pictures about them for reference.
-List of utilities and programs I usualy use, and for what they are...

Please if you have try any accessories or hardware upgrade, or tweak or program you think that is great and want to recommend to other m11xr3 users take a llitle time to make and post telling us why you recommend it what use do you make of it, and any photo or image showing it so others can use at reference... remember when you first get the m11x and all the advance you want at that moment to get the best of it from the beginnig... if you want make a fast review here so I will copy (with proper reference and REP+ to you) or if it is perfect just ask a moderador to move it to the new thread when make it... Is a easy way to make your good action, help others and get rep and get linked in the forum all in one... Only good thinks to you and to much thanks and smile from people, you will help...
