I do not have bluetooth on my R2 and wondered if anyone here has installed the internal module that Dell installs.

    Anyone do this ?

    Thats okay.
Its not urgent because I will rarely use bluetooth. I may need a usb one for a dual boot with XP and 7 because when I have to use XP there may be no wifi drivers in which case I can use bluetooth via my Nokia 3G phone for internet access.

If I do get a usb I found a tiny, tiny one that has USB 3.0 (not that 3.0 is any better than 2.0)

I will just wait to buy a usb one. I will not install internally.

I wasn't sure so I just figured $20 couldn't hurt. It's much easier if I ever do need it...

I purchased the dell bluetooth 365 module on eBay for about $15, then installed it in about 20 minutes, and downloaded the driver. Works great with my Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 mouse that I also got on eBay.

Saved over $30 by going the eBay way.

It cost me $20 for factory installed...so I don't think it saved you $30...

If you're talking about using your Nokia N8 as a wireless modem, and you plan on tethering through Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN)...

Be aware that your bandwidth may be bottlenecked by Bluetooth. I used to tether my Android smartphone to my laptop via Bluetooth DUN, and would get capped at ~250Kbps because of Bluetooth 1.1, despite the fact that my 3G cellular connection was easily getting 1.5Mbps to my phone.

It's not that bad to do. I've done it twice. Just some screws, basically.

Is the Dell module bluetooth 1.1 ? This would be horrible and I find it hard to beleive.

Assuming it is 2.0 I may still get a tiny, stub-like, Bluetooth 3.0 adapter since my Nokia N8 is Bluetooth 3.0.

The main reason though is that I will need a XP Sp3 dual boot and the Dell module likely doesnt have XP drivers.

Either way I think I just want another 3.0 device to complement my N8 3.0.

The Dell Bluetooth 365 is a $20 option, and the MS Bluetooth 5000 Mouse is about $40 new.

    TOTAL = $65

    I PAID = $30

hmm, your right, actually saved me $35.
