    My TactX mouse arrived today and since I don't have a dvd drive I downloaded and tried to install the driver/program from dell's site. It was able to install the keyboard CI but when it will not install the mouse CI, it says that more current version of alienware software was found, which i'm assuming is the command center. This causes it to not install the mouse CI. Anyone else have this problem or know of a work-around?

    I was about to buy an external dvd player just to solve this problem.
    anyhow, I managed to use my other laptop and share the dvd player via network and installed from there. =]

    I never had to use the CD to install my TactX, I just plugged it in and went straight into the command center and had all the lighting options etc available there.

    Ok I am assuming you have R238599 extracted...go to the CD folder...from there you will see 4a (X86) or 4b(X64). Select your flavor most here are probably 4b (X64). From there run the file called AlienwareTactXMouseCI64.exe. Solved.

    I already did that. For some reason it says i have a newer version of the software downloaded and stops, but I definitely don't.

    While I still don't know what was causing the problem I was able to get it to install by removing the part of the .ini file that checked for version. If anyone else has this problem just remove
    && (1.00 >= RegVal("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Logitech\AWSetPoint II\CurrentVersion\Setup","Version", 0.00))
    from the compcfg.ini file that is in the same folder as the .exe

    Super excited.. Getting my TACTX mouse tomorrow in mail. No sale or anything. Just ready for better mouse than the Razer Mamba.. The drivers cause my m11x to blue screen a lot.

    Man I'm excited. Best Wishes, stevenx
