Just as the title states. Would it be possible to put an Ultimate-N 6300 in an Alienware m11x and work 100%?

does the m11x have a half mini pci-e slot that its using for the current wireless card. If so then yes in the intel 6300 uses half mini pci-e

Yes, just need to buy a third antenna and run it somewhere through the M11x.

you could run it with the 2 existing antenna's, but the third one could be found on Ebay search for "U.FL" antenna

you dont NEED 3 antennas and 2 is plenty 3 is overkill. dont bother with the third antenna you'll be fine.

Get the 6200 card insted, I installed it in my m11x. Places I got 1 bar now get 4 bars. Plus it only has 2 antennas so no need to route a extra third one.

Well the price difference between the 6200 and 6300 was so small I figured I'd go with the 6300. Antenna was only $5.

I know I'm being a necromancer, but its still a valid question since the current links are dead.

    Amazon.com: Intel Intel 5300 Ultimate N Wi-Fi Link Wireless Network Adapter - Mini PCI Express - 450Mbps - IEEE 802.11n (draft), IEEE 802.11a/b/g: Electronics

    or

    http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Ultimate-633ANHMW-802-11n-Adapter/dp/B0038A9HSK/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t

It matches everything but does not say "half-height". Knowing what I know of the M11xR2, it might NEED to be the half-height size due to space constraints. Can anyone verify for me that this will NOT work, before I purchase it?

I am specifically looking for the 450Mbps throughput, as I will be getting an extra antenna to assist with MIMO.

Still wish they would decide on a standard and get N out of draft status, tired of running into random issues that is based around 'not quite' being compliant.

I'm using the 6300, works fine and love it. Fixed my freezing WiFi load troubles... Just hook up antennas 1 and 2.

Having some troubles with my 6200 card now :(

I reinstalled windows, when I try to install the drivers for the card with says the driver signature doesnt work or somthing like that... even the ones from intels page dont work either... If I plug in my old hdd that already has the drivers installed it works, but when I use my new drive with a fresh os it wont.

Anyone have any tips other than hitting f8 on start up everytime?

    ejohnson,

Try disabling the card in the BIOS, then uninstalling the drivers in windows. Then on reboot, enable it in the BIOS, but turn the card off (Fn+f3). Load the drivers (make sure 64 bit, I know probably already checked this) and when it says it needs to detect your card, then turn it on. Had to do this with my older Intel card on an XPS laptop when loading a 64bit OS. Not a clue why, but the only other thing that helped was launching the driver application directly instead of through the 'setup' file. I think I remember reading that the setup file actually detected the card wrong and that is why the drivers never loaded properly.

I could be completely off base here as this was not for the same card you have, but my XPS and I have a history with Intel wireless cards, and it was never pretty when I had to reinstall.

Thanks, I will give that a try. Whats odd is that it worked a few months ago when I first installed the 6200 card... now it wont work.
