My Intel X-18M G2 160GB SSD has just arrived with an 2,5" to 1,8" SATA converter drive bay.
Sadly my beloved m11x can't recognize it.. It says to SATA devices in BIOS: "none".
When I throw it into my girlfriends old Acer 5310 it recognizes it well...

Any ideas on helping me out?

The SSD FW version is 02L0, but will update it in my girlfriends lappy tonight I hope it helps...

If any of you have encountered this issue, don't hesitate to discuss :)

Your best bet would be to test the drive in its 2.5" drive bracket on a desktop machine that uses SATA.

At this point, you have no idea if the problem is with the drive itself, with the laptop bracket, or your M11x. Narrow it down first, then we can help.

I've tried it my desktop with and without the bracket and its working properly.
Just like in my girlfriends laptop.
    I have m11x R1 btw.

I'll order a Delock MicroSATA - SATA converter and will try that.
Maybe m11x doesn't like cheap chinese brackets :)

Ok, it sounds like you're moving in the right direction... the next step would have been to test the Intel X18-M drive with a known-good bracket, which it looks like you're in the process of doing.

BTW, why'd you get a 1.8" drive, instead of getting a standard 2.5" drive?

I bought the 1,8" because it's price. I bought it much cheaper than a 2,5" would have been.
I hope that tomorrow I get the bracket.

I have been doing some research, and have heard of some people running into problems trying to run an Intel X18-M 1.8" drive as a 2.5" SATA drive. The problem seems to be around how 1.8" micro SATA drives use 3.3V, while standard 2.5" drives use 5V of power. Some users with older / cheaper desktop PSU's have problems, because their PSU's were not wired to deliver 3.3V over the SATA connector - only 5.0V.

If the microSATA to SATA bracket that you have coming in the mail does not solve the problem (and properly convert voltages), then you might want to consider just returning the 1.8" drive and getting a real 2.5" drive. It is highly unlikely that the designers of the M11x bothered to wire 3.3V support into the M11x's internal SATA power connector, if they only expected 5.0V drives to be put into the machine.

Yes this is what I exactly wanted to do.
The only thing I can't do is to return the SSD. In my country "sadly" this is not how things working. But anyway I bought it in a very good price so I can sell it easily. I might consider buying a Crucial C300 128GB 2,5".
