Is my Dell Charger Compatible with my M11x

Hey all, I just have a quick question about chargers for the M11x.

I am traveling with my M11x but forgot the charging cable, but I have a charger (Model #: pa-1900-02d2 ) from a Dell Latitude D610 that fits the same port (dc connector 3-pin 7.4 mm) on the M11x.

My question is whether or not using this charger will screw up my battery or cause a fire or explosion or something by using it with my M11x? Are DC ports for laptops standardized to prevent this?

The specs seem to match those specified in the M11x manual: Dell PA-10 90 Watt AC Adapter Power Cord

I just wanted to get a second opinion on this before I screw something up.

 

I use several old dell adapters with my m11x with no ill effects at all.

Just make sure it's a 90W adapter (4.7A is the current rating) or else you will likely end up in problems.

 

I use my girlfriend's adapter from her three year old Dell whenever I stay at her place and it works without a problem. As mwaldron said, as long as its a 90W adapter you should be fine.

I have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron, but the charger is 65W, when I plug in and turn on the m11x there is a black page that shows me that is less than the 90W, so is gonna take more to charge the battery, but there is nothing about damage, could that charger hurt the m11x?

 

65 watt should be fine, as I use the same thing occasionally. If it hurt your battery/system I'm sure the message would say:

"Use of this non-approved Dell charger may damage your system" instead of
saying it's going to take longer to charge.

 

In fact the R1 ships with a 65W adapter, at least from the outlet.

I'm currently on the phone with AW tech support and they will be shipping me a new 'slimiline' adapter DJN5T to replace the bulky standard adapter that shipped with my r2. (the standard one looks the same as the adapter from my old inspiron 1501)

 

I want to do it because I move my m11x R2 every day to work, and I don´t want to move the charger, the first charger from that Dell Inspiron stopped working because of that, moving it every day for 2 years, one day started to sound like sparks where the connector is in the charger, so I got a new one, now I can lleave the m11x charger at home and use this charger at work....
