Is screen size an issue for the M11x?

I'm looking at the M11x for its power, portability, etc., but one of my biggest concerns is that the screen is too small and low in quality. I'm not going to be doing any heavy graphic work or anything but I will be using it to read notes for several hours a day. I will probably hook it up to my TV when I bring it home, but I just hope my eyes don't bleed after several hours of reading on 11 inches.

Is the resolution a problem when you have two windows opened up side-by-side? I've heard that with smaller screens and lower resolutions side-by-side windows don't completely fit and requires you to scroll from one to the other.

Also, how is it to browse the internet on this thing? I'll obviously be doing a lot of that, but does the screen/resolution require a lot of scrolling?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm used to using a high-res 15" laptop, so the M11x will be a pretty big change if I end up picking it up. Thanks.

You can always increase the size of fonts or drop the resolution if you have a problem reading.

As for having windows open side by side, 1366x786 or whatever it is really isn't that small of a resolution. It was just a few years ago 15" screens usually had 1280x800. And again, if you can't read the screen, you change the font. As for real estate for putting them side to side, I have a 1280x800 12" laptop that I regularly have windows side-to-side on while programming as well as usually having video playing in the bottom right and don't have a reason to complain.

How much scrolling you will do is a function of the resolution, not the size of the screen. Given that, if you're used to a bigger resolution, then it's obviously going to require more scrolling than you do now, but again 1366x786 isn't really that small. You probably won't ever do horizontal scrolling because the average resolution is 800x600 followed by 1024x786, both of which are smaller than the M11X's, so most websites are made for those.

All that said, it really depends on what you use now and how picky you are (no offense intended). You should really hit up a Best Buy or something to check out both 11" screens and laptops with that resolution to see if it's right for you.

i had a 12" netbook briefly before i decided to go with the m11x and i ended up really liking the 12" display, and this is coming from someone who had a 17" notebook before that! you may end up liking it more than you think. if you want to play with a few small laptops at best buy that could be a wise move, but keep in mind that most of the 10.1" netbooks have low resolution displays.

I'm trying to get used to it coming from a 15.6" 1680x1050. Frankly it's cramped, but it's not as bad as I was expecting.

Could really use a decent virtual desktop solution.

I've been using a 12.1" 710m for 4+ years and never had a problem with it. Before that I had a 15.4" screen b/c someone convinced me that the 12.1" would be too small. Well turns out it wasn't and I am really glad I made the switch.

I think overall it really depends on the user. 11.6" is no big deal for me but you definitely want to make sure you won't regret your decision to downsize.

Its all about resolution which means desktop space. As long as your eyes can resolve the smaller pixels, the user experience to me is the same. I've had a 12" XPS M1210 (1280x800) for my main computer for 4 years and at work I use a 15" with same resolution and it really feels the same to me.

you can try to bring the your m11x to the laptop repairs and let them slot in a 12.1 inch lcd screen on it.

I've found that moving the task bar to orient vertically on the left or right hand side helps tremendously. Leaving it at the bottom just chews up too many valuable pixels in my constrained vertical viewing space.

Well, its like 14.5 cm height and and like 25.7 cm length. For me its just perfect, because i love to game but I also love netbooks, so this computer have the power to play games in a small screen. Actually before i have it, I think it was smaller than it is, so I think you will love it and it will be bigger than what you expect.
And about the internet, its easy to find new conections, and to conect to them. My room is on the 3rd floor and the (internet)modem on the 2nd floor and I almost always have 2/5 bars of internet and I can surf on internet and play online games without lagg problems ;D

Coming from a 1024x600 netbook, it's wonderful! Of course, I was mousing around in 1024x768 on the netbook just to make it tolerable.
