I am trying to get into some video editing so I downloaded Hitfilm. I know that the Alienware isnt the best computer to try and do something like this but my other laptops have lower specs.

    Alienware R2, GTX 335, i5, 8gb ram, 500gb Momentus XT hybrid drive
Macbook Pro 13" (mid 2009) Core duo (can't remember which one), 8gb ram, 500gb 7200 drive
    Asus G71gx, P8700, GTX260, 6gb of ram, 500gb drive
    Gateway FX P173x, T7500, GT8800, 2-4gb of ram, 320gb and 500gb drives

I was trying to avoid using the last two computers because they are so damn big. The Alienware seemed to be the best compromise given the fact that I can hook it up via an HDMI to a bigger screen. The error I get is as follows:

OpenGL version must be 2.0 or higher
OpenGLSL version must be 1.2 or higher.
The monitor must be running in True Color (32-bit)

Any thoughts? Or is this just a lost cause. Thanks, herb

Nothing wrong with AW as a brand for editing... ;) are you doing a big production? Youtube stuff? It might encode slower than alternatives but just a few short years ago people were doing big things with less. Enjoy!

If Hitfilm is a bust you might try Lightworks. Free!
