This problem has been going on for about a month now and it is tiresome whenever i want to play games. Basically the high performance graphics card will shut off, so if i were to play any game the high performance graphics card will not be available. The green icon on the bottom right hand side(tells which graphic settings you have) is completely missing, so i can not change modes by pressing fn + f6. Everytime i fix it i have to go into control panel, disable the due core graphics and enable it again, then i have to click on nvidia control panel in order for the graphics to work again.

my warranty is expired and i have tried reinstalling the driver. do you have any suggestions?

Go into the bios and disable the Intel igp. Then it will only ever use the Nvidia. Of course this will sacrifice battery. But im fine with the 4-5 hours you get with it. You might load up msconfig and see if that somehow got disabled from starting at windows startup.
