Just bought my first Alienware

Finally got the bank to buy an Alienware and decided to go with the M11x due to its portability. Not sure which version I got, but these are the specs:

Intel Core i7-2617 1.5GHz (2.6GHz)
8GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHz
GeForce GT540 w/ 2 GB memory

Plus some other stuff. Which version would this be and is there anything I should know about it before I get it? Also, once I get it will it need updated drivers or anything?

I'm very excited to be getting my first Alienware and can't wait. Ordered on the 4th and estimated to be here around the 19th. That's going to be a long two weeks of waiting for this baby.

 

congrats! you have the new r3 version witch kicks my r1's butt all over the place lol. anyway, no i seriously doubt you will have to update the drivers, they are made to be pulled out of the box and gamed on. Goodluck!

 

Yes, you have the maxed out R3, great machine and according to the specs you should be able to run on batteries longer then my R2

I jumped on Dell support when i saw mine was due on the 17th of October and told them i would be in Canada at that time. They gave me a free next business day upgrade and it's currently sitting on a delivery truck somewhere in my area. I should get it within the hour or so!

 

OH man, I am totally going to try that now. I want this bad boy ASAP since I don't have a computer and am getting tired of using my grandparent's slower than slow HP, lol.

 

I said something along the lines of "When i placed the order it gave a delivery date of 10/11/2011 which was OK because i am leaving for Toronto on 10/15/2011. If i had been given a delivery sate of 10/17/2011 to begin with, i would have chosen NBD delivery instead of the 7-day. Is it possible to change my shipping method now or is it too late?".

They accepted that as a valid argument and gave me free NBD delivery!

It was just delivered 10 mins so playing around with it now. Pretty happy so far!

Those first few hours after getting your new Alienware laptop... geez. Enjoy this moment. Because I can honestly say that as a complete nerd, you will be chasing this feeling of new-toy-awesomeness for a while.

Oh man I bet you're having a great time with it, lol. That didn't work for me. they said my order was in the final stages of production and the shipping couldn't be changed :/ oh well.. It'll be worth the wait I hope !
