I just got a M11X R3 from dell's outlet website. On the outlet site, it says it comes with GT550 1GB, but when the card I got is GT540 1GB. Does anyone have the same issue? I called Dell support and explained my problem, they didn't really give me a direct answer. I was transferred like 5 times, at the end the tech guy said that M11X R3 only comes with GT 540 then he asked me I wanted to be transferred again to a sale rep, but I told him no.

I don't really want to return this laptop, I am loving it. :) Please let me know if you have the same issue. It might even be a typo on their outlet site.

No problem man. A few have fallen for that but dont fret the GT540 with a little tweaking will make it a beast. Just hope you dont beat my bench of 10065 marks!

You may know this already, with nVidia the 1st number is the generation, 2nd number is the class, and 3rd is the revision. It's bizarre the middle number plays the biggest role in nVidia's naming.

That's to say a 2 80 being class 8 (high end professional series) should kill a 5 40. The reason I say this, is the difference between a 5 40 and 5 50 would be noticeable... while the difference between say a 3 50 and a 5 50 should be slight.

Now I'm making up those numbers for reference, I don't even know if nVidia makes a 280, 350, etc. but that's how their naming convention works currently. I, and many others wish nVidia swapped the first 2 numbers as it's not intuitive that their naming convention puts a 280 as a much better card than a 540, and a 640 and 440 would be similar. If they swapped the first two numbers, people would easily know an 820 is a much better card than a 450, comparing a 640 to a 440 after swapping would be 460 vs. 440 putting them in the same ballpark which they are. But, I feel for you if you compared the results of a 540 with a 550, as the 550 is a class above. At least for me anyway I'm very happy with the 540.

So you're the one who bought that from under my nose. :( I've been waiting for more R3's to show up on the outlet site, but I haven't seen any in almost a week. :(

Haha! No worries. :) It was probably over my price range anyways. I was looking at the i5 since the i7 isn't HUGELY more powerful (and the 1gb vs 2gb card is yes and no on the improved performance according to people here), so I figured I'd save a bit of dosh and just stick with the i5. Still not sure though! I'm going to try again tomorrow and hope they've got some on the outlet!
