Told them about the hinge issues.

    Gave them my order number.

Told them to resolve the hinge issues before they assemble it & ship it off.

The rep agreed and said it would be taken care of.

I hope that "means" that the "hinge" issues will be "fixed" in my case before they ship the machine out!

    lol.

They are made in China, and I doubt very seriously that they unbox them and check the hinges before they ship to your door.

    Here's hoping for ya, though.

I think the poster ment for them to add some reinforcement or something. The hinges arnt bad to start with its a design flaw like recalls you get in cars. You dont find out about them till some one losses the ability to stop the car cause of a faulty break and then all hell breaks lose.

Yeah, I really don't think that'll happen. Defective hinges are almost impossible to recognise until after weeks/months of use. GL though, my hinges have lasted 8 months so far and were misaligned and creaking out of the box.

Yours isn't going to get any special attention. That rep was just telling you what you wanted to hear and you're in the hinge lottery just like everyone else. Enjoy the notebook either way. It really is a sweet piece of kit.

This. The likes of them actually checking it over, just for you, is unlikely. Like the saying goes, you do it for one, you do it for all, and they don't have the time to check over every single of their M11x's.

Though, I will give you my good lucks anyway! Just in case I was wrong. :)

The person you called or talk to is just a phone rep and the guy you really want to talk to is the actual peson in the assembly factory that is going to assemble it. I doubt the rep is going to contact that factory to make sure the hinge you get is perfect

My cousins have m11x bestbuy version back in spring and it was brand new sealed, out of the box hinges are crack and sliding over to the side, why would the assembly people in the factory that made those m11x packed it in a box sealed it up and ship it out like that, you get my drift?

Hopefully these R2's have be reviewed and inspected as the hinge issue has been really popular with its predecessor.

Had an m11x R1 for 1 month back in June, now have had a m11x R2 since July... no hinge problems in either... ever.

    I think it's just luck
