    Hey guys,

I just want to confirm whether Killer Wireless-N 1103 will be able to function like Killer Wireless-N 1102 (but more expensive) on my M11x R2. I am not really planning to install an extra antenna but I will be getting Killer Wireless-N 1103 as someone bought me as a gift ! !

When installing, I will just have to connect antennas to the far left and right ones, right? Leaving nothing attached to the middle one.
    Thanks !

You can run it without the third antenna , You just won't get the theoretical maximum 450Mbps out of it. You will get up to 300Mbps (because each antenna can get up to 150Mbps using wireless N).

Far left and right (1 White) (x) (2Black)

    Thanks a lot !
Now I don't have to worry about not being able to use Killer Wireless-N 1103 which is on the way !

where can you buy this card from?
And is it much faster then the stock one that comes with the alienware R2 m11x?
lastly it still depends on the speed of your provider how fast of an internet you get right?

You can get them off eBay, yes it's faster, and yes it does depend on the speed of tour provider Internet

I notice it gets pretty toasty. I wonder if a small small heatsink like for a chipset could fit between it and the case bottom.

Yes it is, but your r2 only has 2 antenna. To make full use of that card you need to have 3 antenna.

I have one in my r1 and it works great (but I have 3 antenna)

I have just received my new M11xR3 from DELL UK today and I baught it with Killer Wireless-N 1103 and I found that it has only 2 antenna cables. A white and black only not third antenna cable. Although the wireless card has 3 ports one of them contaning a gray triangle on far end is empty. I was assuming that DELL should have installed 3 antennas for Killer 1103. And I am talking about M11xR3.

I am debating getting this card. I can not decide if I want the 1103 or the 1102, but I may get the 1103 and upgrade the antenna later for I only have two antennas and if the 1103 will function as the 1102 without the third antenna

Its worth getting. I ordered my M11xR3 with it and couldnt be happier. It does only have 2 ant hooked up but i chose not to install a third one. The only issue i have with it so far is world of warcraft wont start from the game launcher but Blizzard walked me thru a way around it. its due to the drivers for that card and hopefully bigfoot will correct it with a new set of drivers later on.

Is it easy to install these cards?

ie. Getting one from ebay and installing it myself VS ordering a stock one from dell?

Also, if I install the card myself, does it affect the dell warranty?

The wireless card is pretty easy to install. You just have to remove the bottom panel to access the slot. The card slides into the slot and, a screw holds it down so if you have a previous card you can reuse the screw. The only issue you should have is if you ordered the 1103 then you will have a connection for a third antenna and notebook usually only has 2. Then if you want to get maximum throughput you would have to install the 3rd antenna and that is a bit difficult.

Your warranty will still be good, but it will not cover the Killer wireless card

Great thanks for the info! Ya I probably won't try to install the 3rd antenna. 300 Mbps should be good enough for me :)
