Well I know there was a thread a long time ago about the possibility of upgrading the m11x's LCD with a better panel, but that never materialized. I was wondering if anyone has attempted an upgrade or not. I've seen some side by side comparisons with the MacBook Air and it's LCD looks much better. Is there any chance that that could work with the m11x? I've tried to find some pics of the connector to even see if it could be hooked up but found nothing.

I love these little notebooks, but next to my MacBook Pro and Dell 24" monitor, the LCD just looks horrible. Alienware really needs to offer a better panel.

Im pretty sure the reason that its not really possible is that there are only 2or3 different panels to choose from that are being manufactured... and Dell already uses all of them to produce the M11x in no specific order because they are all considered (by Dell) to be about the same quality.

Things my have changed in the small pannel market in the last yr but i wouldnt know.

People have asked about LCD replacements for the M11x before.

To my knowledge, nobody knows how easily the panel can be replaced, or if it can be replaced at all, because nobody has tried.

I'v been keeping in contact with the person that was testing out LCDs and making a custom bezel...

there are no better LCDs that fit, and the bezel is a PIA to make because it is uber thin in spots...

These responses are what I expected actually, nothing new since I couldn't find it searching myself. I was hoping that maybe there was a new display on the market by some manufacturer. I looked into the MacBook Air's display a little... do they really manufacture their own display for that? I wish Dell could strike a deal up with them since I think it is significantly better than the 3 that get used in the m11x. It actually has me considering the m14x as an upgrade from my R1 since it has a nice display.

Though I won't do the mod even if does materialize, I have to admit at the screen is my least favorite thing about this machine. It's okay, but when I set it next to my MBP or when I plug it into my big monitor, it's like putting my glasses on when I get out of the pool.
