"Lap Desk" That's Close to the M11x's Size?

After getting neck pains within minutes when using the M11x on my lap, I decided to try using my Logitech N100 "lap desk" that I use for my MacBook Pro, and what a difference it makes comfort-wise. Not to mention how there's a built-in fan, which is quieter than the M11x's fan, which kicks in less with the N100. It gets annoying to switch between the M11x and MacBook Pro with the one lap desk, so I'm trying to find something closer to the M11x's size so I can bring the lap desk with me.

I found this, which is a little smaller than the N100, but still too small to fit in my M11x's bag (which I used to use for my iPad, to give you an idea of its size). Anybody know of any smaller lap desks, lap stands, or whatever you want to call it? Fans or a slide-out mousepad are nice bonuses, but I'd like anything that raises the M11x just a little to make it more comfortable to use. I'd recommend any laptop owners who liked using their laptop on their lap to look into lap desks for better comfort, by the way.

Thanks! I looked around and found some coolers that didn't appear in a Google search or on BestBuy.com (though to be fair not all coolers are good lap desks). I'll have to look more. I wonder if getting a cooler that's an inch narrower and shorter than the M11x is a good idea. I would rep you, but it says I have to rep some more people first to rep you again :D.

I just use my MacTruck case on top of a couch pillow. Perfectly sized for the M11x and the pillow gives it enough height that I'm not staring down into my lap so much. Much less neck strain.

Nice case, but a bit pricey. Putting the M11x on an upward incline increases comfort as well.

    $49.00 + tax.

MacTruck Rugged Notebook Computer Enclosure - RadTech Special Deals

Their "blemished" units are heavily discounted and everyone here who's ordered one has gotten great looking cases. The 12" version 2. They were originally designed for the 12" PowerBook G4s and fit the M11x like a glove after a few simple modifications to the padding.

I'm not really big on buying used, which is pretty much what buying the C-grade scratched models is (C-grade is all they have left). I could probably find a similar case new for $50-$80, but thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I'll look into a new case with a similar style.

Great call! I'm guessing you fold it in half when you use it with your M11x? Can you comfortably use the M11x on your lap when the Futura is folded in half?

I have the same set up -- see here with extensions: Amazon.com: Futura Computer Desk for Gamers w/ One Max Mouzpad & One Regular Mouzpad: Office Products

Folded in half isn't quite big enough. Unfolded, it's pretty spacious without feeling too big. Enough room to put down a cell phone and wallet to the left of the M11x.

I use this small bamboo cutting board. I think it's attractive and it fits the M11x well (size-wise, not aesthetically). It's also small enough that it can go right in the messenger back with the m11x! If I need more height i just use a pillow.

Amazon.com: Totally Bamboo Hana Cutting Board: Kitchen & Dining

    oh, and it's only $12.

I've been using the Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315 for the past 6 months. Totally worth it. It's super small and portable enough to shove in a backpack. Some Targets carry them in store if you want to check it out in person.

I have been using a math an social studies text book. So really any two books that you dont read would work.
