Does anyone else suffer from an in-balance in the left mouse button? If I press it close to the left edge, the mouse has like a 33% chance of being a mouse press. Pressing it on the right side works every time -- at least for me. It would be very nice if it was uniform.
Is it a defect?

No one has any comments about this? O.O;; Is it only present in mine?

My left mouse button acts in a similar way. The whole trackpad/buttons are one of the worst things about the M11x. I can't stand the deep press of the buttons or the rough, textured trackpad.

There is another thread here discussing the topic. Another poster I think said similar. I dont have this issue.
Trackpad is awesome! Buttons are ok. Not bad not great. -
The left mouse button is less tight, a bit uneven, so it requires to be pressed in a specific manner to work. I think it sometimes happens with the m11x - but it is a relatively rare issue.
And yes, like Sfmman2000 said - it is definitely not the best trackpad around. Quite enough for web-surfing and other daily tasks though. -
Thanks for the input guys ~ it is driving me nuts, as the edges are where I'm conditioned to press (from having laptops with oversensitive touchpads). It is kind of embarrassing, because while this laptop is great, its a potential deal breaker for me. I have another half a weekish before my return period. I may have to take advantage of it.

Thanks! -
As you say, you have been conditioned. Likely you would have to adjust if using different model... is it really THAT bad? I sure like it much more than some others I have used lately (Acer) and about the same as my old Dell.
I'm using R1 though so all bets are off.

It was horrible. over 33% of the button was unresponsive. I thought it to be a tad unreasonable.
It WAS horrible. Now it is acceptable ~ left edge now registers about 11 out of 12 clicks +- 2.
I opened her up, found out that the recent Dell technician visit has left me one screw short (noticed that my right palm rest was no secure and would squeak upon pressure), and took a look at the mouse buttons.
I inserted a small piece of foam to increase the tension of the button ever so slightly so that edge pressure is enough to trigger. -
Thanks for the link btw ~ if I had read that first, I probably would have pursued for a replacement -- though I hate how I can't get chat support for alienware systems.
