Title... and if so is it part of the motherboard?
-
Should be covered by warranty.
Seems to be a part of the main motherboard: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/alw_m11xr2/en/sm/sysboard.htm#wp1046741 (see image)
Still, what do you mean by it sometimes doesn't work? -
I feel like sometimes its making contact and sometimes it isn't. I plug in multiple different items and each one is registered by the computer MAYBE 1/3 of the time. I know I said 50% but it doesnt feel that way. The right side USBs work perfectly with each device. I dont know.

Maybe you could first try delete all of the usb controllers in Device Manager and try let it re-detect to see if it makes any difference.
-
Nope
So shall I call up my warranty in the morning? I feel like I should anyway because my alienware logo lights do not respond in command center and are permanently off (maybe burnt out or something) so it'd take two birds out with one stone.
-
Yeah, sounds like you might as well.
-
Alright thank you so much for your help. Ill get right on that tomorrow
Edit: lets hope the new motherboard doesn't hurt my overclocking ability :/
Left USB slot works only 50% of the time if that... covered by warranty?
