Hi I'm new to the forum and new to alienware, so far loving my m11x r1 :) although it did ship with a faulty screen and now the new replacement is creaking a lot :( .

Anyway i have noticed the right "speaker" grill light thingy (actual technical term) is brighter and a slightly different color than the rest of the lights, is it a common problem and do u think its worth phoning them about it?

Its a cosmetic thing so "worth" is up to you. There was one other thread that someone mentioned same issue or similar... have you found that?

I've had my M11x apart enough to notice that everyone once in a while the thin film layer over each grille can move around a bit. This can lead to dimness and or sharp bright areas. Taking the palmrest off again and smoothing out the film has always fixed it.

If you're not up to taking it a part to look at and or fix it then Dell will likely replace the palmrest.

He bought a laptop from Dell to be in pristine condition. He shouldn't have to settle for an inferior model. Dell will fix it asap. That is of course, if it is within warranty and you don't mind being on hold. I don't blame Dell since you can't expect a perfect machine each time just like you can't expect to bake a perfect cake each time. To me its worth it since you paid your hard working money for it and I would want the product as described without any faults no matter how minor.

Think i will give them a call, I would strip it down and have a look myself but iv only just got it and dint want to void the warranty.

    Thanks for the replays

hello, i had this happen and all i did was press and slide my nail down the light grille from left to right once or twice and it removed it, literally that simple! it happens all the time (sliding in and out of backpack) its really not a big deal at all!, if you want i can show you pics of before and after, i can reproduce and fix it every single time
