    Yes and no.

All computers can have liquid cooling. Doesn't mean it'll work. :)

On a serious note: the m11x is too cramped to have anything beyond the basics: fan, gpu, hdd, cpu, etc. It's one of the first things I recommend doing with a new computer.

    Enjoy your machine :)

Yeah there is definitely no liquids at all inside. Except for the thermal paste which is hardly a liquid.

This may be the heat pipe liquid.

    :O

You scared me DeeVu! For a split second I thought that it was an M11x receiving the liquid cooling treatment in that picture.

I couldn't imagine what I would do if I accidently performed a DIY liquid cooling mod on my lappy ;)

This is correct, the m11x does have liquid cooling of a sort.

Just because there was liquid inside, doesn't mean it is liquid cooled. Just like how a dish with vegetables in it doesn't automatically make it vegetarian.

The Alienware M11x is definitely air-cooled. It uses a heatsink and fan to dissipate the waste heat into air. If it dissipated the waste heat into a liquid medium, then it would be considered liquid-cooled.

The liquid inside the heatpipes(mostly water) evaporates and transfers heat to the cold end, the air cooled heatsink fins. The vapors return to liquid state(condenses) once in contact with the cold surface and returns to the hot end of the heatsink where it evaporates again repeating the cycle.

This is still an air cooling system, the liquid is used because it's more efficient in heat transfer compared to solid materials.
