Can someone list all the ways to lower discharging rate of the M11x's battery? I would like to get as much battery as possible.

Ps. I know there are optimization threads but they're full of other stuff too. I want this one to be specifically for lowering discharging rate.

disabling anything that is unnecessary for Windows running properly should decrease the discharge rate.

    1. Disable indexing services
    2. Use a light anti-virus software (NOD32 or Avast vs. McAfee)
    3. Disable the LEDs or if you still want them dim them
    4. Disable the Alien Face Recognition software
    5. Disable bluetooth if not used
    6. Obviously dimming the screen
    7. Tweak the power management settings (use power saver mode)
    8. Disable unused ports in the BIOS such as the SD card slot, the ethernet port, the IEEE 1394 port

For #2 i would personally recommend MSSE! (microsoft security essentials). This is because it is less of a resource hog than all the other ones you listed.

How are people using the web browser and only discharging 8-9k ?

    Im discharging 10 - 11k :(

my discharge rate is also higher than i'd like. one of the things i can think of is that people who are discharging in the low spectrum are probably using SSDs. those are generally more energy efficient than normal HDDs. my minimum discharge rate is at about 11000 and i don't know why, i have done all the tweaking possible

no and i may not be the best person to take tips from since my discharge rate is relatively high, 11000 at the minimum so i would definitely enjoy some more tips! it got 44 processes going at the minimum and the cpu is at 0% so i don't know what else i could do

    in the services tab uncheck

    Bluetooth Support Service
    FAService
    Fax
    Steam

    In Start Up disable

    Adobe Acrobat
    FATrayMon
    Google Update
    Alienware AlienFX
    Alienware On-Screen Display

    that should help a bit

basically disable whatever you don't need at start up. I also have openoffice disabled because if i need it i will open it. so do the same with your productivity software

discharge rate varies, if you are getting 10000 while running the internet and wifi then that is great. i can barely get 11000 completely idle.

I am getting about 8-9k on internet surfing. Here is what I did:

    1. LED lights off.
    2. Screen brightness lowest.
    3. Power saving mode.
    4. BT off.
    5. Wifi set to power saving mode rather than performance mode.

My set comes with the SU7300 + 4G + 500G HDD. But if I crank up my brightness of the LCD to 50%, I still get about 10-11k discharge rate which is more than acceptable for me.

I have to say, TurboBoost and Windows Aero off seems to have a negligible effect on discharge rate. No difference at all in regular browsing usage. So I turned them back on.

Biggest difference so far has been due to simply dimming the screen.
