I have an M11xR2 and have gamed my fair share on it. The problem is, I'm starting to see a decrease in performance. An example would be battlefield bad company 2. I use to be able to play it on its lowest settings without going into the teens. Now it seems like I'm constantly in the 15-20 area and when I move my view, it's like lag spikes galore. Another game is eve online. I use to be able to play the game in atleast 40FPS. Everything maxed. Now when I look at stations or something large, there's a slight frame rate lag feeling. Probably going 25-30. Lastly, L4D2. It's the same with the other games. I use to be able to play with maxed (without AA or AF), but now I'm forced to go medium for all settings to have acceptable game performance.

    My M11X has:
    i5-520m
    4GB RAM

Everything else is probably the same as other M11xr2's.

Anyone know the solution to this problem?

    Do you have throttlestop?
    What drivers are you using?
    Are you overclocking anything?

It is possible that dust is building up inside and impeding the cooling, which would cause the system to throttle. What temperatures are your CPU and GPU running at?

i agree with the dust theory. Vacuum the exhaust. it made my m11x run 10-15 degrees C cooler.

Please elaborate one specific moment concerning your issues with Eve: is the framerate lag in the game accompanied by slight sound stuttering/latency(especially noticeable with music)?

I'm not using Throttlestop, but I'm usually playing games with the m11x plugged in (that wouldn't cause throttling.... would it?).
I'm using modded 265.90 drivers, which I have been using ever since I was getting good FPS.
I'm am not overclocking, undervolting, or did any other major BIOS hardware changes.

Hmmm, well a couple weeks ago, a tech guy came over to change my monitor and had to open up my comp. During that time, he's allowed me to spray out any dust that was needed.

Ok, sure. When I'm in jita and-... lol jk Really though, I get performance problems in Eve when I undock and my screen slowly fades into space after the loading screen. Then when I move my camera around and scan across a star or station, I get slight frame rate issues. Sound does not lag.

Thank you for your responses! I hope I can get this figured out....

I run Bad Company 2 with frames from 25(most action) up to 60ish. avg in mid 30s.
Settings all on Medium, Lowest resolution. All resolutions looked the same size to me so why not? lol. I'm using the 266.58 drivers from nvidia site.
Dawn of War 2 i play all on Ultra and FPS stays in upper 40s average.
I keep my m11x in cleanest condition(wipe the table from dust, wash my hands before using it, etc lol.). It's like a little sports car.

Ah, sry I didn't answer that part.
When I'm idle I usually get 46 to about 52 degrees celsius cpu temp.
And my GPu gets about 51 degrees celsius.

When I'm playing games my temps are about 70 degrees celsius and for cpu and gpu. Both have 80 degrees max. minimum 50 degrees.

Oh just a quick update, but yes this problem has arisen as well. I'm now having slight lag problems with sound. Not only for eve online, but for all games. Including youtube sometimes.

Please try disbling Wi-Fi (press Fn+F3) and running a game, see if everything still lags or not?

errr, have you downloaded anything recently? do you have sufficient anti-virus/etc protection? what do you use? i found that by downloading certain programs or driver on my desktop it can cause stability issues or any other such problem. but yeah, check out what you've downloaded recently (and even if you sprayed out your dust a couple of weeks ago, you may want to do it again... make sure to hit the vents - a vacuum may be good for it).

do you have any benchmark scores you can compare to when your laptop was running fine?

are people downloading a lot of stuff on your same network? i hear that that can slow down your performance as well (unless if this is occurring even while playing single-player games)

well, most of my games are played through steam. Most recently I've played BFBC2. Before my performance loss, I was playing it at a good 40 FPS (low settings) average. Now I'm getting like a 15-25 FPS rate. I do have anti virus, but it's off when I play games. Also, my internet is routed. However, everything I have set up now is the same as when I had good performance.
