I just can't choose between the two, black looks great, but one of my friends who owns this says Lunar shadow looks better, but from a lot of pictures lunar shadow looks somewhat... Cheap... Any suggestions on which color I should choose?
Thanks... I know this thread makes me stupid... But I just got to ask this question...
-
I went with black because the inside is black either way, and I also felt it would go better with the case lights.
-
I wish I went gray.
-
I love the black on the r2.
-
I second the black.
-
Black imo
I think of the many things we all own, phones, cameras, audio equipment, TV's. Do you want those things in silver or black? Do you want to carry around a silver wedge of electronics or classic black?
People have reasons to love both, but black is classic and the same color I want many of my things in. -
black all the way. If you have it silver and black inside it will look dumb.
-
The look for gray isn't just a plain old gray. You really have to see it to appreciate it. I really like it.
But I got black because it matches the most with every color. Not to mention, all my other electronics are black... it would look kind of retarded otherwise with gray. Not to mention the black inside?! wtheck is up with that? lol -
I went with Lunar Shadow as it makes some of "sculpted" elements on the case stand out more.
-
The point is not to accent those sculpted elements though right?! The more subtle, the better. I mean, it already looks way immature for any adult to be carrying around.
-
Lunar shadow here. the sculpting is suble with either imo. if they wanted to be totally subtle about it they would have just left the case flat and removed the alienhead. im sure those that buy alienware want people to know its an alienware to some extent. im not sure why people think the leds don't look as good because the case is silver/gray, as the keyboard, screen, and front LEDs are black and/or are housed in black. i really like the two tone look of the lunar shadow. there seems to be some with black that wish they got the lunar shadow, but not the other way round for some reason
-
Alienware doesn't care about it being subtle or not. I just feel some people would rather have the option. If I want to draw attention, I can turn on my lights and turn a lot of heads. Otherwise, I can turn them off so it doesn't look like a video game console.
I did spend a couple of hours trying to decide between the two colors, but I felt the stealth black was a little more professional-looking for me and I'm glad I went with it. I do like the lunar shadow's tone though. -
Lunar Shadow... makes the alienhead on the front cover not stand out as much. The dual tone look great imho. Plus, people have been complaining that the soft touch would show signs of wear more? Not the case with LS.
-
How so?! I feel the rubberized paint would hold out longer. Not to worry though, as it is definitely something that would be covered under warranty.
If the lunar shadow would have had a silver keyboard as well, i'd have gone for it as it would probably mask grease a little better. I think two-tone looks somewhat cheap in electronics. Looks great on my Audi's interior though. -
I like my silver. I haven't seen other 2 in real life so I can't say much about them. I picked silver because it's kinda neutral of the 2 other options x).
-
Are you getting the R1 or R2? The R1 offers a choice between Lunar Shadow or Cosmic Black, while the R2 has Lunar Shadow or Soft Touch Stealth Black.
You have to remember that these two blacks are different. Cosmic black is notorious for showing lots of fingerprints and marks, while the Soft Touch Stealth Black has a somewhat rubberized feel and shows fingerprints much less than Cosmic Black.
If I were ordering an R1, I would go with lunar shadow only because fingerprints bother me and I don't want to be wiping them off all the time.
When I ordered my R2 a week ago, I went with Soft Touch Stealth Black because I believe the rubberized feel would make it seem more high quality and less like cheap plastic. It doesn't show fingerprints nearly as bad as Cosmic Black. And black is a timeless color - it will never make your laptop look old.
So your color options depend on which version of the m11x you are ordering. -
If you remember how the old Dell Latitude D610 laptops looked, the Silver looks very similar to that, but more "shinier". Looks fine to me.
Lunar shadow or cosmic black...
