you could simply get a bluetooth dongle from dealextreme... they cost $1.98 and free shipping.... works great and no drivers required... can connect to all bluetooth devices such as phones, keyboard & mouse.... thats if you would rather spend the 75$ credit on something else

I personally would spend the 75 to have the bluetooth installed internally. I absolutely hate dongles all over the place on a laptop! ;)

Take one of these two cases:

Case 1: Buy a bluetooth module card from Dell, gather your toolkit (screwdrivers and everything), and a phone with a Dell Tech Service representative on the other line (I know, they kinda suck :p ) to prevent voiding the warranty... Let them guide you to install your M11X's Bluetooth module...

Case 2: Buy a bluetooth adapter (via USB or firewire connection) from your local retailer or somewhere cheap online... Plug and Play, easy peasy... But sometimes, you may need to install softwares to make it work... :p

Think about how often you are going to use Bluetooth, I bought a couple dongles, they work great, their small, and I hardly ever need them.

Exactly what I was thinking. The only thing I wanted to connect was a laptop mouse, which I decided is too small for my hand and doesn't feel good.

FYI I was trying to fix my BSOD problem with OC, was swapping parts out with my XPS. I popped that 370 Bluetooth card in the WWAN slot in the M11x. Nope won't work there, Windows did detect a device, but when trying to install the driver, it says to enable the card before trying to install the driver.

I looked up the service manual. The internal 365 BT card for the M11x looks like an internal USB card. It requires the palm rest to be removed to install, which I would have if I didn't have this overclock problem.

I don't use it often myself, but I do insist on having the BT internally. As small as that BT dongle is, it will still stick out quite a bit. The only USB receiver that's acceptable to me in size (sticks out about 1/2 inch) is the micro receiver from a Logitech mouse I have. Anything bigger there's a much higher risk to break something on your laptop.

thanksfor all your replies folks. I did a bit more research and came up with the same answer as andye39. Basically to install the bluetooth internally keyboard and palmrest have to come off. found the service manual online.

I have decided to go another route tho with my coupon. just gonna buy a new mouse for my desktop and use my current full size bluetooth mouse for the laptop. The dongle for my curretn mouse is almost 2 inches long though so i think i will definitley invest a couple bucks in that supersmall one i see posted ramatar. its small enough that it shouldn be ableto get enough leverage on anything to break.

if i break down an decide to get the bluetooth headphones that iwas lookin at i may have to revisit the issue of internal installation. I dont even know if you can have two devices useing bluetooth at the same timee though

The internal bluetooth module is relatively difficult to get to, so it unfortunately isn't considered a customer replaceable (or installable) option on the M11x.
