    Hi Guys!

Received my M11x today, got to say so far i love it! I have overclocked the CPU and ive got to say for a 300mhz increase there is quite a descent performance increase in some games!
I have been using HWmonitor and CoreTemp to read the idle and load temperatures now the system is overclocked (used games and prime95 blend test to load the system) . I dont really know that much about overclocking so was hoping you guys could give me some indication of whether or not my temperatures are acceptable or not.
At idle my temperature range from between 39-44 degrees
At load I get Between 49-51 degrees.

What temps is everyone else getting while OC'ed?

Also does anyone elses M11X seem to get pretty warm underneath and also on the bottom left hand corner near the speaker lights? just wondering if this is normal.

Anyway anyone who can give some idea for the above points i will be really grateful!

These temps are really good. If they get over 85*C on load, then I would worry. Your more then good. Keep enjoying the system! Alienware does a great job with cooling systems in thier laptops.

My SXPS 16 with the i7 and ATI card ran at 65 IDLE, so i wouldn't worry man :)

Intel chips can take double the heat you're getting no issues.

The bottom-left of your laptop is where the heat is "collected" in the heatsink/cooling system. Make sure you leg doesn't block the intake.

thanks for the quick replies guys! thats awesome then. Got to say the system is great cant fault it really! Im glad to hear that there is some headroom as well even if for some strange reason the processor gets really hot, summer is looming afterall (not that we get hot summers in the UK!)

What temperatures are other M11X owners getting on OC?

I'm getting what you are getting for temps. Currently on battery with my SU7300 on OC and using the Intel IGP, getting 44 in class.

The only component I ever think gets "too hot" is the ram modules. Anyone think their left palm is getting a little too toasty lol?

yeah looking at pics with the bottom cover off, theres really no ventilation down there.... but ram operating temps are pretty high, higher then cpu temps even. (threshhold that is)

According to technical specifications, highest temperature for that CPU is ~100 C, so way below that is very nice.

That's not hot, this is: :)

Yeah mine always seems to get hot near my left palm when gaming, interesting to know it's the ram.

I believe the thermal envelope on the su7300 tops at like 105C or 110C. You can check the intel spec sheets.

I really can't imagine it getting anywhere near that without overvolting

Nice to know why the bottom left corner gets so hot!
I thought it was the hard drive because of the pictures in the manual then realised the pics in the book were upside down! (facepalm)

So anymore M11X owners out there got any temperatures to put up? be interested to see what some of the stock temps are as well tbh.

Temp range from intel for the SU7300 is 0-105c. So we have a lot of room to play with on this processor.

on average mine is around 45C.. I once got 79C after leaving it on my bed by mistake, I was in a bit of a panic there :)

Hey guys...sorry I'm new as well. I over clocked mine at 166 and checked the CPU temp...it was around 67 degrees. I've read that anything over 65C is bad but some of you are saying that intel claims it can handle up to 100C or so? So what do you guys think would be pushing it in terms of CPU temp while overclocking on the m11x? I'm really nervous to do it.

I use Real Temp for CPU temp and MSI Afterburner (RivaTuner) for GPU.

I use speedfan for temps (cpu and gpu with graphs), cpu-d for numbers, evga precision for gpu clocking.

sandra, prime95, and picalc for benchmarking and torture testing

The cpu will probably shut down to protect it's self if it hits 100C. That doesn't mean those temps are safe.
When you overclock you should generally try to stay below 65C but if you go a little over it's not a huge deal. anything 80+ could really reduce the life of the cpu however.

CoreTemp works pretty well in combination with All CPU Meter (sidebar gadget).

My hottest temp after running Crysis for a couple hours is 51C. Looking at some of the above posts, I'd recommend Speedfan as I use it on my other laptop and it works great. For maximum circulation, you should keep your laptop propped up on the back end so the fan isn't blocked. You could also use a cooling pad.
