M11x is a portable multimedia and gaming beast but the included speakers might affect the entertainment experience... The speakers are good but not that good, It lacks some bass and crispiness. Loudness has some issues too, sliding your volume bar or equalizer up will just make the speakers like someone who's screaming for his life...

Would it be nice to have better sounding speakers for R1?

Yes we can have that :) How?
    By replacing the speakers :D

I just found out that the Altec Lansing speakers from my old laptop works well with R1... Luckily, you don't have to solder things, because it has the same connector as r1's speakers...speaker size are just the same too... And the audio is fantastic :)

Now I have a better sounding M11X R1 than all of you :D at least for now :)

Nice, cant wait to see some pics. I have been dreaming of nice m11x speakers. Waiting to find a set of r3 speakers and a m14x subwoofer to give a try.

Nice to see successful modding +1. I understand that the R3 comes with better speaker than the previous 2 revisions but does anyone know what make?

I have used altec speakers before they would be certainly worth the hassle if they are better than the stock ones in my R3.

Yea the R3 has Klipsch speakers. Have purchased an R1 which i should be receiving in the next week or so, i'll do a sound test among other things to see the difference.

I know my R3 sounded a little nicer than my R2. But i wouldn't mind upgrading the R3's speakers if i could find some better ones..

Not to knock modding, but to get some decent sound and if you're willing to drop a bit of cash your best bet is portable external speaker. They even make them with BT so you don't have to deal with wires. I got a Jawbone Jambox a few months ago, and its a perfect companion in size for my M11x. Yes its a bit pricey, but its completely portable, battery life that refuses to die, and even adds a bit of bass.

so if i wanted to do this mod would you guess recommend using the altec ones (found some for $4) or the new R3 ones? or even a different set all together?

Not sure if these will work yet since I dont have a m11x chassis sitting next to me, but these look interesting
Tang Band T0-2008S Speaker Module Pair | 264-928

1 inch by 2 inches, speaker with a passive radiator (extra bass)

I think with some chassis mods these could be made to fit in there. Im going to grab one of my spare m11x chassis tonight and see if they can be fit into there.

The so-called "Powered by Klipsch" speakers in my M11x R3 are a lower overall volume than my M11x R1. My R1 speakers often weren't loud enough, so this was a problem until I found ways to crank the volume higher in the audio drives and system utilities. Now they sound every bit as crappy, though.

They look exactly the same. I doubt Klipsch actually made them. If all Klipsch did to certify this was to lower the output level, color me disappointed. Has anyone tried putting R3 speakers in an R1/R2?
