I'm at work and won't be able to open this up until tomorrow, but I figured I'd get ahead and start looking for help early.

Worked fine recently, but today it has no signs of life. No LED's will turn on even while plugged in. The power cords block has a green light on it so I believe it's functioning correctly. I was able to take the battery out and have tried holding the power button for 10-30 seconds. The laptop will not turn on without the battery either. When pressing the battery indicator it lights up 1 LED briefly.

I have not touched anything inside the machine. It's a few years old without any issues so far, and I'm hoping it's the battery and not the mobo since I really don't have the money to be fixing this. Tomorrow I'll be able to dive in and see if the ribbon going to the mobo is intact and plugged in.

So far, does this sound like the mobo or battery to you guys? I'm hoping it's the cheaper fix.

Crap, it should turn on without the battery while plugged in? Guess it's not the battery. But if the battery indicator is only showing one led after being plugged in, does that mean it's the power cord?

Most likely the power adapter is not delivering any power to charge the battery (it wont power up with a dead battery) or the DC jack has some problem - I know one of the wires came off the dc jack of my m11x when I cleaned it a couple of months ago and I had to resolder it - maybe the same thing has happened to yours.
