Just wondering if us poor R1 owners will be forgotten about when it comes to Nvidia driver updates?

(Not that there have been any real updates yet anyway...)

Of course, we may get an Optimus driver?... we would all be able to use vanilla Nvidia drivers then. Correct?

well, since it's the same gpu i assume the regular drivers for r2 will work for r1. if anything, you'll eb able to use the exact same drivers, just with optimus disabled.

I'm doubting it, especially after the comments by reawneila, its one of the reasons I decided to upgrade to the new machine.

Absolutely not - we'll continue to sustain the M11x R1. There will not be an Optimus driver for it though - that requires new hardware, and thus, an R2. Sorry...

That's good to hear. Don't really care about Optimus really. I'm fine swapping with FN-F6. It would just be nice to see some UTD GFX drivers.

I think there might be a driver that will work with the r1 considering they are the same GPU.

They're still selling the SU4100 and SU7300 so the device is still current.
Don't put me on the cart, I'm not dead yet.

    Are older i7's forgotten(e.g. i7 920)? No. M11x R1 is awesome too.

In all honesty I can't use ANY of the Dell drivers on my notebook. Here's what I get when I tried to install the NVIDIA 192 driver posted on the Alienware support page:
    YouTube - M11x problems

That said, I'm not exactly impressed with the support that the M11x gets.

i doubt dell and alienware would cut support for the r1, after all they are still selling it and anyone who wants a r1 with a su7300 can still purchase it if they do not desire the newer processors.

Yeah... I'm just overreacting I guess. Thanks for the reassurance. The m11x r1 is a stunningly cool machine.
