Hello Everyone,
So my R2 is spec'd as:
i7, 4gb ram, 335m (258.96 modded drivers), Intel x-25m G2 60gb SSD, Win 7 64 home premium
My issue is that im experiencing very slow/choppy aero experience. At first, i thought that this wouldn't and shouldn't be an issue for the m11x. But after days of constant clean installs, driver reinstallation (not to mention using more than 2 different sets of nvidia drivers), i became fed up with the problem and decided to post a thread to see if anyone else was experiencing this issue.
I'll go more in depth about this issue. If i open one or more windows, the system would become very choppy or slow when navigating and closing windows. The same issue reflects upon the aero 3d flip as well. The problem only goes away if i disable windows aero by reverting back to windows basic theme. My WEI scores are listed as: CPU 5.4 RAM 5.4 GRAPHICS: 3.4 GAMING 6.5 and HD 7.7. My ASUS UL80VT, which is slower in terms of power, doesnt even do this. Any help is much appreciated.![]()

AERO is handled by Intel graphics. Make sure to download and install that.....
-
And just to be clear, you'll want to grab the latest driver for the Intel HD IGP directly from Intel.
Was Aero choppy out of the box? It shouldn't have been. -
I've cleaned installed the m11x multiple times, and i still get very laggy aero desktop (especially when i move windows left to right). the more windows opened, the more laggier it is. Could it be a ssd issue? i dont get it

Did you install both GPU drivers? Nvidia AND Intel?
-
yes..
-
silicondrifter82 Notebook Enthusiast
using the nvidia and intel drivers from the dell website, everything works smooth.
-
Open intel graphics control panel (from task bar) -> Graphics Properties... -> Options and Support -> Information Center
Which driver version is it reporting? -
-
^they're up to at least .2189 (that's what I have)
-
I went to the intel site to update and used the driver update utility where it scans your computer and recommends specific upgrades. Under graphics driver it says Newer Driver Available: 15.17.9.64.2182 (8.15.10.2182) .
Could this be newer than your .2189? If not, why am I not getting your's (the latest)? -
I just went through it and see the same as you. Someone posted the direct link awhile back, and I got it from that, so I'm not sure what's going on. I know yours isn't newer because I updated it from the *82 version
-
im using .2182
-
how did u get .2189? im trying to get the latest one but it just gives me .2182 as the latest one (supplied by intel)
-
The problem is unlikely your intel driver, as I'm using 2119 and Aero is fine.

okay, so update #2. i have downloaded the newest 260 drivers off nvidia and the latest intel drivers off their site. I dont know if its my system, but i just seem to get a very choppy/slow aero experience. if i open multiple windows or pages using the aero glass feature, my system just slows down and the fan kicks up. i checked my CPU usage and its only at 5%. Yes, i turned off alienfx. Physical memory usage is around 30% based off 4gb ram. The only time this system flies is when i turn off aero and revert to windows basic. Im confused because i have a timeline and asus ul series laptops that run aero with no problem. but this m11x...isnt it supposed to be more powerful? help.. sick and tired of clean reinstalls.

try removing 'Windows Search' from msconfig.exe
it did me a number, helped a whole lot with speeds
this directly wouldnt help youre aero graphics but would take the load of off the cpu thus i think that also indirectly helps the gpu run better but I could be wrong... its worth a shot -
Get the app to disable powermizer, I found that helped make Aero smoother.
-
My guess is that it's a power setting somewhere. (Do you have it set to performance mode?) or overheating, or a faulty system. You shouldn't have to go through all of this. It should work out of the box.
Can you download HWmonitor & check your temperatures? I noticed you said
Something is not right & we should start eliminating causes. -
I got from 2.8 to 3.3 when I updated to the latest Intel driver in WEI....
-
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but has anyone found a solution for this problem?
I'm putting my i7 M11x through the displayport right now and Windows Aero is noticeably choppy/unresponsive. -
Can you guys post the driver name, version and in what order you've installed them in? This is usually caused by forgetting to install a driver or installing them in the wrong order.
-
some say install intel first then nvidia. -
P.S. Install Nvidia, THEN intel. I've had problems going intel first.
